箴言

箴言第1章

箴1:1

The proverbs of Solomon son of David, king of Israel:

以色列王大卫儿子所罗门的箴言:

箴1:2

for attaining wisdom and discipline; for understanding words of insight;

要使人晓得智慧和训诲,分辨通达的言语,

箴1:3

for acquiring a disciplined and prudent life, doing what is right and just and fair;

使人处事领受智慧、仁义、公平、正直的训诲,

箴1:4

for giving prudence to the simple, knowledge and discretion to the young–

使愚人灵明,使少年人有知识和谋略,

箴1:5

let the wise listen and add to their learning, and let the discerning get guidance–

使智慧人听见,增长学问,使聪明人得着智谋,

箴1:6

for understanding proverbs and parables, the sayings and riddles of the wise.

使人明白箴言和譬喻,懂得智慧人的言词和谜语。

箴1:7

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

敬畏耶和华是知识的开端;愚妄人藐视智慧和训诲。

箴1:8

Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.

我儿,要听你父亲的训诲,不可离弃你母亲的法则(或作“指教”),

箴1:9

They will be a garland to grace your head and a chain to adorn your neck.

因为这要作你头上的华冠,你项上的金链。

箴1:10

My son, if sinners entice you, do not give in to them.

我儿,恶人若引诱你,你不可随从。

箴1:11

If they say, “Come along with us; let’s lie in wait for someone’s blood, let’s waylay some harmless soul;

他们若说:“你与我们同去,我们要埋伏流人之血,要蹲伏害无罪之人。

箴1:12

let’s swallow them alive, like the grave, and whole, like those who go down to the pit;

我们好像阴间,把他们活活吞下;他们如同下坑的人,被我们囫囵吞了。

箴1:13

we will get all sorts of valuable things and fill our houses with plunder;

我们必得各样宝物,将所掳来的装满房屋。

箴1:14

throw in your lot with us, and we will share a common purse”–

你与我们大家同分,我们共用一个囊袋。”

箴1:15

my son, do not go along with them, do not set foot on their paths;

我儿,不要与他们同行一道,禁止你脚走他们的路!

箴1:16

for their feet rush into sin, they are swift to shed blood.

因为他们的脚奔跑行恶,他们急速流人的血,

箴1:17

How useless to spread a net in full view of all the birds!

好像飞鸟,网罗设在眼前仍不躲避。

箴1:18

These men lie in wait for their own blood; they waylay only themselves!

这些人埋伏,是为自流己血;蹲伏,是为自害己命。

箴1:19

Such is the end of all who go after ill-gotten gain; it takes away the lives of those who get it.

凡贪恋财利的,所行之路都是如此;这贪恋之心乃夺去得财者之命。

箴1:20

Wisdom calls aloud in the street, she raises her voice in the public squares;

智慧在街市上呼喊,在宽阔处发声,

箴1:21

at the head of the noisy streets she cries out, in the gateways of the city she makes her speech:

在热闹街头喊叫,在城门口、在城中发出言语,

箴1:22

“How long will you simple ones love your simple ways? How long will mockers delight in mockery and fools hate knowledge?

说:“你们愚昧人喜爱愚昧,亵慢人喜欢亵慢,愚顽人恨恶知识,要到几时呢?

箴1:23

If you had responded to my rebuke, I would have poured out my heart to you and made my thoughts known to you.

你们当因我的责备回转,我要将我的灵浇灌你们,将我的话指示你们。

箴1:24

But since you rejected me when I called and no one gave heed when I stretched out my hand,

我呼唤,你们不肯听从;我伸手,无人理会。

箴1:25

since you ignored all my advice and would not accept my rebuke,

反轻弃我一切的劝戒,不肯受我的责备。

箴1:26

I in turn will laugh at your disaster; I will mock when calamity overtakes you–

你们遭灾难,我就发笑;惊恐临到你们,我必嗤笑。

箴1:27

when calamity overtakes you like a storm, when disaster sweeps over you like a whirlwind, when distress and trouble overwhelm you.

惊恐临到你们,好像狂风;灾难来到,如同暴风,急难痛苦临到你们身上。

箴1:28

“Then they will call to me but I will not answer; they will look for me but will not find me.

那时,你们必呼求我,我却不答应;恳切地寻找我,却寻不见。

箴1:29

Since they hated knowledge and did not choose to fear the LORD,

因为你们恨恶知识,不喜爱敬畏耶和华,

箴1:30

since they would not accept my advice and spurned my rebuke,

不听我的劝戒,藐视我一切的责备,

箴1:31

they will eat the fruit of their ways and be filled with the fruit of their schemes.

所以必吃自结的果子,充满自设的计谋。

箴1:32

For the waywardness of the simple will kill them, and the complacency of fools will destroy them;

愚昧人背道,必杀己身;愚顽人安逸,必害己命。

箴1:33

but whoever listens to me will live in safety and be at ease, without fear of harm.”

惟有听从我的,必安然居住,得享安静,不怕灾祸。”

箴言第2章

箴2:1

My son, if you accept my words and store up my commands within you,

我儿,你若领受我的言语,存记我的命令,

箴2:2

turning your ear to wisdom and applying your heart to understanding,

侧耳听智慧,专心求聪明,

箴2:3

and if you call out for insight and cry aloud for understanding,

呼求明哲,扬声求聪明,

箴2:4

and if you look for it as for silver and search for it as for hidden treasure,

寻找它,如寻找银子;搜求它,如搜求隐藏的珍宝,

箴2:5

then you will understand the fear of the LORD and find the knowledge of God.

你就明白敬畏耶和华,得以认识 神。

箴2:6

For the LORD gives wisdom, and from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.

因为耶和华赐人智慧,知识和聪明都由他口而出。

箴2:7

He holds victory in store for the upright, he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,

他给正直人存留真智慧,给行为纯正的人作盾牌,

箴2:8

for he guards the course of the just and protects the way of his faithful ones.

为要保守公平人的路,护庇虔敬人的道。

箴2:9

Then you will understand what is right and just and fair–every good path.

你也必明白仁义、公平、正直,一切的善道。

箴2:10

For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.

智慧必入你心,你的灵要以知识为美。

箴2:11

Discretion will protect you, and understanding will guard you.

谋略必护卫你,聪明必保守你,

箴2:12

Wisdom will save you from the ways of wicked men, from men whose words are perverse,

要救你脱离恶道(或作“恶人的道”),脱离说乖谬话的人。

箴2:13

who leave the straight paths to walk in dark ways,

那等人舍弃正直的路,行走黑暗的道,

箴2:14

who delight in doing wrong and rejoice in the perverseness of evil,

欢喜作恶,喜爱恶人的乖僻,

箴2:15

whose paths are crooked and who are devious in their ways.

在他们的道中弯曲,在他们的路上偏僻。

箴2:16

It will save you also from the adulteress, from the wayward wife with her seductive words,

智慧要救你脱离淫妇,就是那油嘴滑舌的外女。

箴2:17

who has left the partner of her youth and ignored the covenant she made before God.

她离弃幼年的配偶,忘了 神的盟约。

箴2:18

For her house leads down to death and her paths to the spirits of the dead.

她的家陷入死地,她的路偏向阴间。

箴2:19

None who go to her return or attain the paths of life.

凡到她那里去的,不得转回,也得不着生命的路。

箴2:20

Thus you will walk in the ways of good men and keep to the paths of the righteous.

智慧必使你行善人的道,守义人的路。

箴2:21

For the upright will live in the land, and the blameless will remain in it;

正直人必在世上居住,完全人必在地上存留;

箴2:22

but the wicked will be cut off from the land, and the unfaithful will be torn from it.

惟有恶人必然剪除,奸诈的必然拔出。

箴言第3章

箴3:1

My son, do not forget my teaching, but keep my commands in your heart,

我儿,不要忘记我的法则(或作“指教”),你心要谨守我的诫命。

箴3:2

for they will prolong your life many years and bring you prosperity.

因为他必将长久的日子、生命的年数与平安加给你。

箴3:3

Let love and faithfulness never leave you; bind them around your neck, write them on the tablet of your heart.

不可使慈爱、诚实离开你,要系在你颈项上,刻在你心版上。

箴3:4

Then you will win favor and a good name in the sight of God and man.

这样,你必在 神和世人眼前蒙恩宠,有聪明。

箴3:5

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;

你要专心仰赖耶和华,不可倚靠自己的聪明,

箴3:6

in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.

在你一切所行的事上都要认定他,他必指引你的路。

箴3:7

Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil.

不要自以为有智慧,要敬畏耶和华,远离恶事。

箴3:8

This will bring health to your body and nourishment to your bones.

这便医治你的肚脐,滋润你的百骨。

箴3:9

Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops;

你要以财物和一切初熟的土产尊荣耶和华。

箴3:10

then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine.

这样,你的仓房必充满有余,你的酒榨有新酒盈溢。

箴3:11

My son, do not despise the LORD’S discipline and do not resent his rebuke,

我儿,你不可轻看耶和华的管教(或作“惩治”),也不可厌烦他的责备。

箴3:12

because the LORD disciplines those he loves, as a father the son he delights in.

因为耶和华所爱的,他必责备,正如父亲责备所喜爱的儿子。

箴3:13

Blessed is the man who finds wisdom, the man who gains understanding,

得智慧、得聪明的,这人便为有福。

箴3:14

for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold.

因为得智慧胜过得银子,其利益强如精金,

箴3:15

She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her.

比珍珠(或作“红宝石”)宝贵,你一切所喜爱的,都不足与比较。

箴3:16

Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor.

她右手有长寿,左手有富贵。

箴3:17

Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace.

她的道是安乐;她的路全是平安。

箴3:18

She is a tree of life to those who embrace her; those who lay hold of her will be blessed.

她与持守他的作生命树,持定她的,俱各有福。

箴3:19

By wisdom the LORD laid the earth’s foundations, by understanding he set the heavens in place;

耶和华以智慧立地,以聪明定天;

箴3:20

by his knowledge the deeps were divided, and the clouds let drop the dew.

以知识使深渊裂开,使天空滴下甘露。

箴3:21

My son, preserve sound judgment and discernment, do not let them out of your sight;

我儿,要谨守真智慧和谋略,不可使她离开你的眼目。

箴3:22

they will be life for you, an ornament to grace your neck.

这样,她必作你的生命,颈项的美饰。

箴3:23

Then you will go on your way in safety, and your foot will not stumble;

你就坦然行路,不至碰脚。

箴3:24

when you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.

你躺下,必不惧怕;你躺卧,睡得香甜。

箴3:25

Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked,

忽然来的惊恐,不要害怕,恶人遭毁灭,也不要恐惧,

箴3:26

for the LORD will be your confidence and will keep your foot from being snared.

因为耶和华是你所倚靠的,他必保守你的脚不陷入网罗。

箴3:27

Do not withhold good from those who deserve it, when it is in your power to act.

你手若有行善的力量,不可推辞,就当向那应得的人施行。

箴3:28

Do not say to your neighbor, “Come back later; I’ll give it tomorrow”–when you now have it with you.

你那里若有现成的,不可对邻舍说:“去吧!明天再来,我必给你。”

箴3:29

Do not plot harm against your neighbor, who lives trustfully near you.

你的邻舍既在你附近安居,你不可设计害他。

箴3:30

Do not accuse a man for no reason–when he has done you no harm.

人未曾加害与你,不可无故与他相争。

箴3:31

Do not envy a violent man or choose any of his ways,

不可嫉妒强暴的人,也不可选择他所行的路,

箴3:32

for the LORD detests a perverse man but takes the upright into his confidence.

因为乖僻人为耶和华所憎恶;正直人为他所亲密。

箴3:33

The LORD’S curse is on the house of the wicked, but he blesses the home of the righteous.

耶和华咒诅恶人的家庭,赐福与义人的居所。

箴3:34

He mocks proud mockers but gives grace to the humble.

他讥诮那好讥诮的人,赐恩给谦卑的人。

箴3:35

The wise inherit honor, but fools he holds up to shame.

智慧人必承受尊荣;愚昧人高升也成为羞辱。

箴言第4章

箴4:1

Listen, my sons, to a father’s instruction; pay attention and gain understanding.

众子啊,要听父亲的教训,留心得知聪明。

箴4:2

I give you sound learning, so do not forsake my teaching.

因我所给你们的是好教训,不可离弃我的法则(或作“指教”)。

箴4:3

When I was a boy in my father’s house, still tender, and an only child of my mother,

我在父亲面前为孝子,在母亲眼中为独一的娇儿。

箴4:4

he taught me and said, “Lay hold of my words with all your heart; keep my commands and you will live.

父亲教训我说:“你心要存记我的言语,遵守我的命令,便得存活。

箴4:5

Get wisdom, get understanding; do not forget my words or swerve from them.

要得智慧,要得聪明,不可忘记,也不可偏离我口中的言语。

箴4:6

Do not forsake wisdom, and she will protect you; love her, and she will watch over you.

不可离弃智慧,智慧就护卫你;要爱他,他就保守你。

箴4:7

Wisdom is supreme; therefore get wisdom. Though it cost all you have, get understanding.

智慧为首,所以要得智慧,在你一切所得之内必得聪明(或作“用你一切所得的去换聪明”)。

箴4:8

Esteem her, and she will exalt you; embrace her, and she will honor you.

高举智慧,他就使你高升;怀抱智慧,他就使你尊荣。

箴4:9

She will set a garland of grace on your head and present you with a crown of splendor.”

他必将华冠加在你头上,把荣冕交给你。”

箴4:10

Listen, my son, accept what I say, and the years of your life will be many.

我儿,你要听受我的言语,就必延年益寿。

箴4:11

I guide you in the way of wisdom and lead you along straight paths.

我已指教你走智慧的道,引导你行正直的路。

箴4:12

When you walk, your steps will not be hampered; when you run, you will not stumble.

你行走,脚步必不至狭窄;你奔跑,也不至跌倒。

箴4:13

Hold on to instruction, do not let it go; guard it well, for it is your life.

要持定训诲,不可放松;必当谨守,因为她是你的生命。

箴4:14

Do not set foot on the path of the wicked or walk in the way of evil men.

不可行恶人的路,不要走坏人的道。

箴4:15

Avoid it, do not travel on it; turn from it and go on your way.

要躲避,不可经过,要转身而去。

箴4:16

For they cannot sleep till they do evil; they are robbed of slumber till they make someone fall.

这等人若不行恶,不得睡觉;不使人跌倒,睡卧不安。

箴4:17

They eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence.

因为他们以奸恶吃饼,以强暴喝酒。

箴4:18

The path of the righteous is like the first gleam of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day.

但义人的路好像黎明的光,越照越明,直到日午。

箴4:19

But the way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know what makes them stumble.

恶人的道好像幽暗,自己不知因什么跌倒。

箴4:20

My son, pay attention to what I say; listen closely to my words.

我儿,要留心听我的言词,侧耳听我的话语。

箴4:21

Do not let them out of your sight, keep them within your heart;

都不可离你的眼目,要存记在你心中。

箴4:22

for they are life to those who find them and health to a man’s whole body.

因为得着它的,就得了生命,又得了医全体的良药。

箴4:23

Above all else, guard your heart, for it is the wellspring of life.

你要保守你心,胜过保守一切(或作“你要切切保守你心”),因为一生的果效,是由心发出。

箴4:24

Put away perversity from your mouth; keep corrupt talk far from your lips.

你要除掉邪僻的口,弃绝乖谬的嘴。

箴4:25

Let your eyes look straight ahead, fix your gaze directly before you.

你的眼目要向前正看,你的眼睛(原文作“皮”)当向前直观。

箴4:26

Make level paths for your feet and take only ways that are firm.

要修平你脚下的路,坚定你一切的道,

箴4:27

Do not swerve to the right or the left; keep your foot from evil.

不可偏向左右,要使你的脚离开邪恶。

箴言第5章

箴5:1

My son, pay attention to my wisdom, listen well to my words of insight,

我儿,要留心我智慧的话语,侧耳听我聪明的言词,

箴5:2

that you may maintain discretion and your lips may preserve knowledge.

为要使你谨守谋略,嘴唇保存知识。

箴5:3

For the lips of an adulteress drip honey, and her speech is smoother than oil;

因为淫妇的嘴滴下蜂蜜,她的口比油更滑,

箴5:4

but in the end she is bitter as gall, sharp as a double-edged sword.

至终却苦似茵陈,快如两刃的刀。

箴5:5

Her feet go down to death; her steps lead straight to the grave.

她的脚下入死地,她脚步踏住阴间,

箴5:6

She gives no thought to the way of life; her paths are crooked, but she knows it not.

以致她找不着生命平坦的道。她的路变迁不定,自己还不知道。

箴5:7

Now then, my sons, listen to me; do not turn aside from what I say.

众子啊,现在要听从我,不可离弃我口中的话,

箴5:8

Keep to a path far from her, do not go near the door of her house,

你所行的道要离她远,不可就近她的房门。

箴5:9

lest you give your best strength to others and your years to one who is cruel,

恐怕将你的尊荣给别人,将你的岁月给残忍的人;

箴5:10

lest strangers feast on your wealth and your toil enrich another man’s house.

恐怕外人满得你的力量,你劳碌得来的,归入外人的家。

箴5:11

At the end of your life you will groan, when your flesh and body are spent.

终久,你皮肉和身体消毁,你就悲叹,

箴5:12

You will say, “How I hated discipline! How my heart spurned correction!

说:“我怎么恨恶训诲,心中藐视责备,

箴5:13

I would not obey my teachers or listen to my instructors.

也不听从我师傅的话,又不侧耳听那教训我的人?

箴5:14

I have come to the brink of utter ruin in the midst of the whole assembly.”

我在圣会里,几乎落在诸般恶中。”

箴5:15

Drink water from your own cistern, running water from your own well.

你要喝自己池中的水,饮自己井里的活水。

箴5:16

Should your springs overflow in the streets, your streams of water in the public squares?

你的泉源岂可涨溢在外?你的河水岂可流在街上?

箴5:17

Let them be yours alone, never to be shared with strangers.

惟独归你一人,不可与外人同用。

箴5:18

May your fountain be blessed, and may you rejoice in the wife of your youth.

要使你的泉源蒙福,要喜悦你幼年所娶的妻。

箴5:19

A loving doe, a graceful deer–may her breasts satisfy you always, may you ever be captivated by her love.

她如可爱的麀鹿,可喜的母鹿。愿她的胸怀使你时时知足,她的爱情使你常常恋慕。

箴5:20

Why be captivated, my son, by an adulteress? Why embrace the bosom of another man’s wife?

我儿,你为何恋慕淫妇?为何抱外女的胸怀?

箴5:21

For a man’s ways are in full view of the LORD, and he examines all his paths.

因为人所行的道都在耶和华眼前,他也修平人一切的路。

箴5:22

The evil deeds of a wicked man ensnare him; the cords of his sin hold him fast.

恶人必被自己的罪孽捉住,他必被自己的罪恶如绳索缠绕。

箴5:23

He will die for lack of discipline, led astray by his own great folly.

他因不受训诲,就必死亡;又因愚昧过甚,必走差了路。

箴言第6章

箴6:1

My son, if you have put up security for your neighbor, if you have struck hands in pledge for another,

我儿,你若为朋友作保,替外人击掌,

箴6:2

if you have been trapped by what you said, ensnared by the words of your mouth,

你就被口中的话语缠住,被嘴里的言语捉住。

箴6:3

then do this, my son, to free yourself, since you have fallen into your neighbor’s hands: Go and humble yourself; press your plea with your neighbor!

我儿,你既落在朋友手中,就当这样行,才可救自己:你要自卑,去恳求你的朋友。

箴6:4

Allow no sleep to your eyes, no slumber to your eyelids.

不要容你的眼睛睡觉,不要容你的眼皮打盹。

箴6:5

Free yourself, like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, like a bird from the snare of the fowler.

要救自己,如鹿脱离猎户的手,如鸟脱离捕鸟人的手。

箴6:6

Go to the ant, you sluggard; consider its ways and be wise!

懒惰人哪,你去察看蚂蚁的动作,就可得智慧!

箴6:7

It has no commander, no overseer or ruler,

蚂蚁没有元帅,没有官长,没有君王,

箴6:8

yet it stores its provisions in summer and gathers its food at harvest.

尚且在夏天预备食物,在收割时聚敛粮食。

箴6:9

How long will you lie there, you sluggard? When will you get up from your sleep?

懒惰人哪,你要睡到几时呢?你何时睡醒呢?

箴6:10

A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest–

再睡片时,打盹片时,抱着手躺卧片时,

箴6:11

and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man.

你的贫穷就必如强盗速来,你的缺乏仿佛拿兵器的人来到。

箴6:12

A scoundrel and villain, who goes about with a corrupt mouth,

无赖的恶徒,行动就用乖僻的口,

箴6:13

who winks with his eye, signals with his feet and motions with his fingers,

用眼传 神,用脚示意,用指点划,

箴6:14

who plots evil with deceit in his heart–he always stirs up dissension.

心中乖僻,常设恶谋,布散纷争。

箴6:15

Therefore disaster will overtake him in an instant; he will suddenly be destroyed–without remedy.

所以灾难必忽然临到他身;他必顷刻败坏,无法可治。

箴6:16

There are six things the LORD hates, seven that are detestable to him:

耶和华所恨恶的有六样,连他心所憎恶的共有七样:

箴6:17

haughty eyes, a lying tongue, hands that shed innocent blood,

就是高傲的眼,撒谎的舌,流无辜人血的手,

箴6:18

a heart that devises wicked schemes, feet that are quick to rush into evil,

图谋恶计的心,飞跑行恶的脚,

箴6:19

a false witness who pours out lies and a man who stirs up dissension among brothers.

吐谎言的假见证,并弟兄中布散纷争的人。

箴6:20

My son, keep your father’s commands and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.

我儿,要谨守你父亲的诫命,不可离弃你母亲的法则(或作“指教”),

箴6:21

Bind them upon your heart forever; fasten them around your neck.

要常系在你心上,挂在你项上。

箴6:22

When you walk, they will guide you; when you sleep, they will watch over you; when you awake, they will speak to you.

你行走,他必引导你;你躺卧,他必保守你;你睡醒,他必与你谈论。

箴6:23

For these commands are a lamp, this teaching is a light, and the corrections of discipline are the way to life,

因为诫命是灯,法则(或作“指教”)是光,训诲的责备是生命的道,

箴6:24

keeping you from the immoral woman, from the smooth tongue of the wayward wife.

能保你远离恶妇,远离外女谄媚的舌头。

箴6:25

Do not lust in your heart after her beauty or let her captivate you with her eyes,

你心中不要恋慕她的美色,也不要被她眼皮勾引。

箴6:26

for the prostitute reduces you to a loaf of bread, and the adulteress preys upon your very life.

因为妓女能使人只剩一块饼,淫妇猎取人宝贵的生命。

箴6:27

Can a man scoop fire into his lap without his clothes being burned?

人若怀里搋火,衣服岂能不烧呢?

箴6:28

Can a man walk on hot coals without his feet being scorched?

人若在火炭上走,脚岂能不烫呢?

箴6:29

So is he who sleeps with another man’s wife; no one who touches her will go unpunished.

亲近邻舍之妻的,也是如此。凡挨近她的,不免受罚。

箴6:30

Men do not despise a thief if he steals to satisfy his hunger when he is starving.

贼因饥饿偷窃充饥,人不藐视他,

箴6:31

Yet if he is caught, he must pay sevenfold, though it costs him all the wealth of his house.

若被找着,他必赔还七倍,必将家中所有的尽都偿还。

箴6:32

But a man who commits adultery lacks judgment; whoever does so destroys himself.

与妇人行淫的,便是无知,行这事的,必丧掉生命。

箴6:33

Blows and disgrace are his lot, and his shame will never be wiped away;

他必受伤损,必被凌辱,他的羞耻不得涂抹。

箴6:34

箴言第7章

箴7:1

My son, keep my words and store up my commands within you.

我儿,你要遵守我的言语,将我的命令存记在心。

箴7:2

Keep my commands and you will live; guard my teachings as the apple of your eye.

遵守我的命令就得存活。保守我的法则(或作“指教”),好像保守眼中的瞳人,

箴7:3

Bind them on your fingers; write them on the tablet of your heart.

系在你指头上,刻在你心版上。

箴7:4

Say to wisdom, “You are my sister,” and call understanding your kinsman;

对智慧说:“你是我的姊妹”,称呼聪明为你的亲人,

箴7:5

they will keep you from the adulteress, from the wayward wife with her seductive words.

他就保你远离淫妇,远离说谄媚话的外女。

箴7:6

At the window of my house I looked out through the lattice.

我曾在我房屋的窗户内,从我窗棂之间往外观看,

I saw among the simple, I noticed among the young men, a youth who lacked judgment.

He was going down the street near her corner, walking along in the direction of her house

从街上经过,走近淫妇的巷口,直往通她家的路去,

箴7:9

at twilight, as the day was fading, as the dark of night set in.

在黄昏,或晚上,或半夜,或黑暗之中。

箴7:10

Then out came a woman to meet him, dressed like a prostitute and with crafty intent.

看哪,有一个妇人来迎接他,是妓女的打扮,有诡诈的心思。

箴7:11

(She is loud and defiant, her feet never stay at home;

这妇人喧嚷,不守约束,在家里停不住脚,

箴7:12

now in the street, now in the squares, at every corner she lurks.)

She took hold of him and kissed him and with a brazen face she said:

“I have fellowship offerings at home; today I fulfilled my vows.

“平安祭在我这里,今日才还了我所许的愿。

So I came out to meet you; I looked for you and have found you!

I have covered my bed with colored linens from Egypt.

我已经用绣花毯子和埃及线织的花纹布铺了我的床。

I have perfumed my bed with myrrh, aloes and cinnamon.

我又用没药、沉香、桂皮薰了我的榻。

箴7:18

Come, let’s drink deep of love till morning; let’s enjoy ourselves with love!

箴7:19

My husband is not at home; he has gone on a long journey.

He took his purse filled with money and will not be home till full moon.”

With persuasive words she led him astray; she seduced him with her smooth talk.

淫妇用许多巧言诱他随从,用谄媚的嘴逼他同行。

箴7:22

All at once he followed her like an ox going to the slaughter, like a deer stepping into a noose

少年人立刻跟随她,好像牛往宰杀之地,又像愚昧人带锁链去受刑罚,

箴7:23

till an arrow pierces his liver, like a bird darting into a snare, little knowing it will cost him his life.

直等箭穿他的肝,如同雀鸟急入网罗,却不知是自丧己命。

箴7:24

Now then, my sons, listen to me; pay attention to what I say.

众子啊,现在要听从我,留心听我口中的话!

箴7:25

Do not let your heart turn to her ways or stray into her paths.

你的心不可偏向淫妇的道,不要入她的迷途。

箴7:26

Many are the victims she has brought down; her slain are a mighty throng.

因为被她伤害仆倒的不少,被她杀戮的而且甚多。

箴7:27

Her house is a highway to the grave, leading down to the chambers of death.

她的家是在阴间之路,下到死亡之宫。

箴言第8章

箴8:1

Does not wisdom call out? Does not understanding raise her voice?

智慧岂不呼叫?聪明岂不发声?

箴8:2

On the heights along the way, where the paths meet, she takes her stand;

他在道旁高处的顶上,在十字路口站立。

箴8:3

beside the gates leading into the city, at the entrances, she cries aloud:

在城门旁,在城门口,在城门洞,大声说:

箴8:4

“To you, O men, I call out; I raise my voice to all mankind.

“众人哪,我呼叫你们,我向世人发声,

箴8:5

You who are simple, gain prudence; you who are foolish, gain understanding.

说,愚蒙人哪,你们要会悟灵明;愚昧人哪,你们当心里明白!

箴8:6

Listen, for I have worthy things to say; I open my lips to speak what is right.

你们当听,因我要说极美的话,我张嘴要论正直的事。

箴8:7

My mouth speaks what is true, for my lips detest wickedness.

我的口要发出真理;我的嘴憎恶邪恶。

箴8:8

All the words of my mouth are just; none of them is crooked or perverse.

我口中的言语都是公义,并无弯曲乖僻。

箴8:9

To the discerning all of them are right; they are faultless to those who have knowledge.

有聪明的以为明显,得知识的以为正直。

箴8:10

Choose my instruction instead of silver, knowledge rather than choice gold,

你们当受我的教训,不受白银,宁得知识,胜过黄金。

箴8:11

for wisdom is more precious than rubies, and nothing you desire can compare with her.

因为智慧比珍珠(或作“红宝石”)更美,一切可喜爱的,都不足与比较。

箴8:12

“I, wisdom, dwell together with prudence; I possess knowledge and discretion.

我智慧以灵明为居所,又寻得知识和谋略。

To fear the LORD is to hate evil; I hate pride and arrogance, evil behavior and perverse speech.

敬畏耶和华,在乎恨恶邪恶。那骄傲、狂妄并恶道,以及乖谬的口,都为我所恨恶。

Counsel and sound judgment are mine; I have understanding and power.

我有谋略和真知识,我乃聪明,我有能力。

箴8:15

By me kings reign and rulers make laws that are just;

帝王借我坐国位;君王藉我定公平。

箴8:16

by me princes govern, and all nobles who rule on earth.

王子和首领,世上一切的审判官,都是借我掌权。

箴8:17

I love those who love me, and those who seek me find me.

爱我的,我也爱他;恳切寻求我的,必寻得见。

箴8:18

With me are riches and honor, enduring wealth and prosperity.

丰富尊荣在我;恒久的财并公义也在我。

箴8:19

My fruit is better than fine gold; what I yield surpasses choice silver.

I walk in the way of righteousness, along the paths of justice,

我在公义的道上走,在公平的路中行,

bestowing wealth on those who love me and making their treasuries full.

“The LORD brought me forth as the first of his works, before his deeds of old;

在耶和华造化的起头,在太初创造万物之先,就有了我。

箴8:23

I was appointed from eternity, from the beginning, before the world began.

从亘古,从太初,未有世界以前,我已被立。

箴8:24

When there were no oceans, I was given birth, when there were no springs abounding with water;

没有深渊,没有大水的泉源,我已生出。

箴8:25

before the mountains were settled in place, before the hills, I was given birth,

大山未曾奠定,小山未有之先,我已生出。

before he made the earth or its fields or any of the dust of the world.

耶和华还没有创造大地和田野,并世上的土质,我已生出。

I was there when he set the heavens in place, when he marked out the horizon on the face of the deep,

他立高天,我在那里;他在渊面的周围划出圆圈,

when he established the clouds above and fixed securely the fountains of the deep,

上使穹苍坚硬,下使渊源稳固,

when he gave the sea its boundary so the waters would not overstep his command, and when he marked out the foundations of the earth.

为沧海定出界限,使水不越过他的命令,立定大地的根基。

箴8:30

Then I was the craftsman at his side. I was filled with delight day after day, rejoicing always in his presence,

那时,我在他那里为工师,日日为他所喜爱,常常在他面前踊跃,

rejoicing in his whole world and delighting in mankind.

“Now then, my sons, listen to me; blessed are those who keep my ways.

Listen to my instruction and be wise; do not ignore it.

要听教训,就得智慧,不可弃绝。

箴8:34

Blessed is the man who listens to me, watching daily at my doors, waiting at my doorway.

听从我,日日在我门口仰望,在我门框旁边等候的,那人便为有福。

箴8:35

For whoever finds me finds life and receives favor from the LORD.

因为寻得我的,就寻得生命,也必蒙耶和华的恩惠。

箴8:36

But whoever fails to find me harms himself; all who hate me love death.”

得罪我的,却害了自己的性命;恨恶我的,都喜爱死亡。”

箴言第9章

箴9:1

Wisdom has built her house; she has hewn out its seven pillars.

智慧建造房屋,凿成七根柱子,

箴9:2

She has prepared her meat and mixed her wine; she has also set her table.

宰杀牲畜,调和旨酒,设摆筵席。

箴9:3

She has sent out her maids, and she calls from the highest point of the city.

打发使女出去,自己在城中至高处呼叫,

箴9:4

“Let all who are simple come in here!” she says to those who lack judgment.

说:“谁是愚蒙人,可以转到这里来!”又对那无知的人说:

“Come, eat my food and drink the wine I have mixed.

“你们来,吃我的饼,喝我调和的酒。

箴9:6

Leave your simple ways and you will live; walk in the way of understanding.

你们愚蒙人,要舍弃愚蒙,就得存活,并要走光明的道。

箴9:7

“Whoever corrects a mocker invites insult; whoever rebukes a wicked man incurs abuse.

指斥亵慢人的必受辱骂;责备恶人的必被玷污。

箴9:8

Do not rebuke a mocker or he will hate you; rebuke a wise man and he will love you.

不要责备亵慢人,恐怕他恨你;要责备智慧人,他必爱你。

箴9:9

Instruct a wise man and he will be wiser still; teach a righteous man and he will add to his learning.

教导智慧人,他就越发有智慧;指示义人,他就增长学问。

箴9:10

“The fear of the LORD is the beginning of wisdom, and knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.

敬畏耶和华是智慧的开端,认识至圣者便是聪明!

箴9:11

For through me your days will be many, and years will be added to your life.

你借着我,日子必增多,年岁也必加添。

箴9:12

If you are wise, your wisdom will reward you; if you are a mocker, you alone will suffer.”

你若有智慧,是与自己有益;你若亵慢,就必独自担当。”

箴9:13

The woman Folly is loud; she is undisciplined and without knowledge.

愚昧的妇人喧嚷,她是愚蒙,一无所知。

箴9:14

She sits at the door of her house, on a seat at the highest point of the city,

她坐在自己的家门口,坐在城中高处的座位上,

箴9:15

calling out to those who pass by, who go straight on their way.

呼叫过路的,就是直行其道的人,

箴9:16

“Let all who are simple come in here!” she says to those who lack judgment.

“Stolen water is sweet; food eaten in secret is delicious!”

But little do they know that the dead are there, that her guests are in the depths of the grave.

箴10:1

The proverbs of Solomon: A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish son grief to his mother.

所罗门的箴言:智慧之子使父亲欢乐;愚昧之子叫母亲担忧。

Ill-gotten treasures are of no value, but righteousness delivers from death.

不义之财毫无益处,惟有公义能救人脱离死亡。

箴10:3

The LORD does not let the righteous go hungry but he thwarts the craving of the wicked.

耶和华不使义人受饥饿;恶人所欲的,他必推开。

箴10:4

Lazy hands make a man poor, but diligent hands bring wealth.

手懒的,要受贫穷;手勤的,却要富足。

箴10:5

He who gathers crops in summer is a wise son, but he who sleeps during harvest is a disgraceful son.

夏天聚敛的,是智慧之子;收割时沉睡的,是贻羞之子。

Blessings crown the head of the righteous, but violence overwhelms the mouth of the wicked.

Wealth is worthless in the day of wrath, but righteousness delivers from death.

Be sure of this: The wicked will not go unpunished, but those who are righteous will go free.

Like a gold ring in a pig’s snout is a beautiful woman who shows no discretion.

妇女美貌而无见识,如同金环带在猪鼻上。

The desire of the righteous ends only in good, but the hope of the wicked only in wrath.

Whoever trusts in his riches will fall, but the righteous will thrive like a green leaf.

If the righteous receive their due on earth, how much more the ungodly and the sinner!

箴12:1

Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge, but he who hates correction is stupid.

喜爱管教的,就是喜爱知识;恨恶责备的,却是畜类。

箴12:2

A good man obtains favor from the LORD, but the LORD condemns a crafty man.

善人必蒙耶和华的恩惠;设诡计的人,耶和华必定他的罪。

箴12:3

A man cannot be established through wickedness, but the righteous cannot be uprooted.

人靠恶行不能坚立;义人的根,必不动摇。

箴12:4

A wife of noble character is her husband’s crown, but a disgraceful wife is like decay in his bones.

The plans of the righteous are just, but the advice of the wicked is deceitful.

The LORD detests lying lips, but he delights in men who are truthful.

箴12:23

A prudent man keeps his knowledge to himself, but the heart of fools blurts out folly.

通达人隐藏知识;愚昧人的心,彰显愚昧。

Diligent hands will rule, but laziness ends in slave labor.

殷勤人的手必掌权;懒惰的人必服苦。

An anxious heart weighs a man down, but a kind word cheers him up.

人心忧虑,屈而不伸;一句良言,使心欢乐。

A righteous man is cautious in friendship, but the way of the wicked leads them astray.

义人引导他的邻舍;恶人的道叫人失迷。

The lazy man does not roast his game, but the diligent man prizes his possessions.

懒惰的人,不烤打猎所得的;殷勤的人,却得宝贵的财物。

In the way of righteousness there is life; along that path is immortality.

箴言第13章

箴13:1

A wise son heeds his father’s instruction, but a mocker does not listen to rebuke.

智慧子听父亲的教训;亵慢人不听责备。

箴13:2

From the fruit of his lips a man enjoys good things, but the unfaithful have a craving for violence.

人因口所结的果子,必享美福;奸诈人必遭强暴。

箴13:3

He who guards his lips guards his life, but he who speaks rashly will come to ruin.

谨守口的,得保生命;大张嘴的,必致败亡。

箴13:4

The sluggard craves and gets nothing, but the desires of the diligent are fully satisfied.

懒惰人羡慕,却无所得;殷勤人必得丰裕。

箴13:5

The righteous hate what is false, but the wicked bring shame and disgrace.

义人恨恶谎言;恶人有臭名,且致惭愧。

箴13:6

Righteousness guards the man of integrity, but wickedness overthrows the sinner.

行为正直的,有公义保守;犯罪的,被邪恶倾覆。

箴13:7

One man pretends to be rich, yet has nothing; another pretends to be poor, yet has great wealth.

假作富足的,却一无所有;装作穷乏的,却广有财物。

箴13:8

A man’s riches may ransom his life, but a poor man hears no threat.

人的资财,是他生命的赎价,穷乏人却听不见威吓的话。

箴13:9

The light of the righteous shines brightly, but the lamp of the wicked is snuffed out.

义人的光明亮(原文作“欢喜”);恶人的灯要熄灭。

箴13:10

Pride only breeds quarrels, but wisdom is found in those who take advice.

骄傲只启争竞;听劝言的,却有智慧。

箴13:11

Dishonest money dwindles away, but he who gathers money little by little makes it grow.

不劳而得之财,必然消耗;勤劳积蓄的,必见加增。

箴13:12

Hope deferred makes the heart sick, but a longing fulfilled is a tree of life.

所盼望的迟延未得,令人心忧;所愿意的临到,却是生命树。

箴13:13

He who scorns instruction will pay for it, but he who respects a command is rewarded.

藐视训言的,自取灭亡;敬畏诫命的,必得善报。

The teaching of the wise is a fountain of life, turning a man from the snares of death.

智慧人的法则(或作“指教”)是生命的泉源,可以使人离开死亡的网罗。

Good understanding wins favor, but the way of the unfaithful is hard.

A longing fulfilled is sweet to the soul, but fools detest turning from evil.

所欲的成就,心觉甘甜;远离恶事,为愚昧人所憎恶。

箴13:20

He who walks with the wise grows wise, but a companion of fools suffers harm.

与智慧人同行的,必得智慧;和愚昧人作伴的,必受亏损。

箴13:21

Misfortune pursues the sinner, but prosperity is the reward of the righteous.

祸患追赶罪人;义人必得善报。

箴13:22

A good man leaves an inheritance for his children’s children, but a sinner’s wealth is stored up for the righteous.

善人给子孙遗留产业;罪人为义人积存资财。

箴13:23

A poor man’s field may produce abundant food, but injustice sweeps it away.

穷人耕种,多得粮食,但因不义,有消灭的。

箴13:24

He who spares the rod hates his son, but he who loves him is careful to discipline him.

箴言第14章

箴14:1

The wise woman builds her house, but with her own hands the foolish one tears hers down.

智慧妇人,建立家室,愚妄妇人,亲手拆毁。

箴14:2

He whose walk is upright fears the LORD, but he whose ways are devious despises him.

行动正直的,敬畏耶和华;行事乖僻的,却藐视他。

箴14:3

A fool’s talk brings a rod to his back, but the lips of the wise protect them.

愚妄人口中骄傲,如杖责打己身;智慧人的嘴,必保守自己。

箴14:4

Where there are no oxen, the manger is empty, but from the strength of an ox comes an abundant harvest.

家里无牛,槽头干净,土产加多,乃凭牛力。

箴14:5

A truthful witness does not deceive, but a false witness pours out lies.

诚实见证人,不说谎话;假见证人,吐出谎言。

箴14:6

The mocker seeks wisdom and finds none, but knowledge comes easily to the discerning.

亵慢人寻智慧,却寻不着,聪明人易得知识。

箴14:7

Stay away from a foolish man, for you will not find knowledge on his lips.

到愚昧人面前,不见他嘴中有知识。

箴14:8

The wisdom of the prudent is to give thought to their ways, but the folly of fools is deception.

通达人的智慧,在乎明白己道,愚昧人的愚妄,乃是诡诈(或作“自叹”)。

箴14:9

Fools mock at making amends for sin, but goodwill is found among the upright.

愚妄人犯罪,以为戏耍(或作“赎愆祭愚弄愚妄人”),正直人互相喜悦。

箴14:10

Each heart knows its own bitterness, and no one else can share its joy.

心中的苦楚,自己知道;心里的喜乐,外人无干。

箴14:11

The house of the wicked will be destroyed, but the tent of the upright will flourish.

奸恶人的房屋必倾倒;正直人的帐棚必兴盛。

箴14:12

There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.

有一条路人以为正,至终成为死亡之路。

箴14:13

Even in laughter the heart may ache, and joy may end in grief.

人在喜笑中,心也忧愁;快乐至极,就生愁苦。

箴14:14

The faithless will be fully repaid for their ways, and the good man rewarded for his.

心中背道的,必满得自己的结果;善人必从自己的行为得以知足。

箴14:15

A simple man believes anything, but a prudent man gives thought to his steps.

愚蒙人是话都信;通达人步步谨慎。

箴14:16

A wise man fears the LORD and shuns evil, but a fool is hotheaded and reckless.

智慧人惧怕,就远离恶事;愚妄人却狂傲自恃。

箴14:17

A quick-tempered man does foolish things, and a crafty man is hated.

轻易发怒的,行事愚妄;设立诡计的,被人恨恶。

箴14:18

The simple inherit folly, but the prudent are crowned with knowledge.

愚蒙人得愚昧为产业;通达人得知识为冠冕。

箴14:19

Evil men will bow down in the presence of the good, and the wicked at the gates of the righteous.

坏人俯伏在善人面前;恶人俯伏在义人门口。

The poor are shunned even by their neighbors, but the rich have many friends.

贫穷人连邻舍也恨他;富足人朋友最多。

He who despises his neighbor sins, but blessed is he who is kind to the needy.

箴14:22

Do not those who plot evil go astray? But those who plan what is good find love and faithfulness.

谋恶的,岂非走入迷途吗?谋善的,必得慈爱和诚实。

All hard work brings a profit, but mere talk leads only to poverty.

诸般勤劳都有益处;嘴上多言乃致穷乏。

箴14:24

The wealth of the wise is their crown, but the folly of fools yields folly.

智慧人的财,为自己的冠冕;愚妄人的愚昧,终是愚昧。

箴14:25

A truthful witness saves lives, but a false witness is deceitful.

作真见证的,救人性命;吐出谎言的,施行诡诈。

箴14:26

He who fears the LORD has a secure fortress, and for his children it will be a refuge.

敬畏耶和华的,大有倚靠,他的儿女,也有避难所。

箴14:27

The fear of the LORD is a fountain of life, turning a man from the snares of death.

敬畏耶和华,就是生命的泉源,可以使人离开死亡的网罗。

箴14:28

A large population is a king’s glory, but without subjects a prince is ruined.

帝王荣耀在乎民多;君王衰败在乎民少。

箴14:29

A patient man has great understanding, but a quick-tempered man displays folly.

不轻易发怒的,大有聪明;性情暴躁的,大显愚妄。

箴14:30

A heart at peace gives life to the body, but envy rots the bones.

心中安静,是肉体的生命;嫉妒是骨中的朽烂。

箴14:31

He who oppresses the poor shows contempt for their Maker, but whoever is kind to the needy honors God.

欺压贫寒的,是辱没造他的主;怜悯穷乏的,乃是尊敬主。

箴14:32

When calamity comes, the wicked are brought down, but even in death the righteous have a refuge.

恶人在所行的恶上必被推倒;义人临死,有所投靠。

箴14:33

Wisdom reposes in the heart of the discerning and even among fools she lets herself be known.

智慧存在聪明人心中;愚昧人心里所存的,显而易见。

箴14:34

Righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people.

公义使邦国高举;罪恶是人民的羞辱。

箴14:35

A king delights in a wise servant, but a shameful servant incurs his wrath.

箴言第15章

箴15:1

A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.

回答柔和,使怒消退;言语暴戾,触动怒气。

箴15:2

The tongue of the wise commends knowledge, but the mouth of the fool gushes folly.

智慧人的舌,善发知识;愚昧人的口,吐出愚昧。

箴15:3

The eyes of the LORD are everywhere, keeping watch on the wicked and the good.

耶和华的眼目,无处不在,恶人善人,他都鉴察。

箴15:4

The tongue that brings healing is a tree of life, but a deceitful tongue crushes the spirit.

温良的舌是生命树;乖谬的嘴使人心碎。

箴15:5

A fool spurns his father’s discipline, but whoever heeds correction shows prudence.

愚妄人藐视父亲的管教;领受责备的,得着见识。

箴15:6

The house of the righteous contains great treasure, but the income of the wicked brings them trouble.

义人家中,多有财宝;恶人得利,反受扰害。

箴15:7

The lips of the wise spread knowledge; not so the hearts of fools.

智慧人的嘴,播扬知识;愚昧人的心,并不如此。

箴15:8

The LORD detests the sacrifice of the wicked, but the prayer of the upright pleases him.

恶人献祭,为耶和华所憎恶;正直人祈祷,为他所喜悦。

箴15:9

The LORD detests the way of the wicked but he loves those who pursue righteousness.

恶人的道路,为耶和华所憎恶;追求公义的,为他所喜爱。

箴15:10

Stern discipline awaits him who leaves the path; he who hates correction will die.

舍弃正路的,必受严刑;恨恶责备的,必致死亡。

箴15:11

Death and Destruction lie open before the LORD–how much more the hearts of men!

阴间和灭亡,尚在耶和华眼前,何况世人的心呢?

箴15:12

A mocker resents correction; he will not consult the wise.

亵慢人不爱受责备,他也不就近智慧人。

箴15:13

A happy heart makes the face cheerful, but heartache crushes the spirit.

心中喜乐,面带笑容;心里忧愁,灵被损伤。

箴15:14

The discerning heart seeks knowledge, but the mouth of a fool feeds on folly.

聪明人心求知识;愚昧人口吃愚昧。

箴15:15

All the days of the oppressed are wretched, but the cheerful heart has a continual feast.

困苦人的日子都是愁苦;心中欢畅的,常享丰筵。

箴15:16

Better a little with the fear of the LORD than great wealth with turmoil.

少有财宝,敬畏耶和华,强如多有财宝,烦乱不安。

箴15:17

Better a meal of vegetables where there is love than a fattened calf with hatred.

吃素菜,彼此相爱,强如吃肥牛,彼此相恨。

箴15:18

A hot-tempered man stirs up dissension, but a patient man calms a quarrel.

暴怒的人,挑启争端;忍怒的人,止息纷争。

箴15:19

The way of the sluggard is blocked with thorns, but the path of the upright is a highway.

懒惰人的道,像荆棘的篱笆;正直人的路,是平坦的大道。

箴15:20

A wise son brings joy to his father, but a foolish man despises his mother.

智慧子使父亲喜乐;愚昧人藐视母亲。

箴15:21

Folly delights a man who lacks judgment, but a man of understanding keeps a straight course.

无知的人以愚妄为乐;聪明的人按正直而行。

Plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed.

不先商议,所谋无效;谋士众多,所谋乃成。

箴15:23

A man finds joy in giving an apt reply–and how good is a timely word!

口善应对,自觉喜乐,话合其时,何等美好。

箴15:24

The path of life leads upward for the wise to keep him from going down to the grave.

智慧人从生命的道上升,使他远离在下的阴间。

箴15:25

The LORD tears down the proud man’s house but he keeps the widow’s boundaries intact.

耶和华必拆毁骄傲人的家,却要立定寡妇的地界。

箴15:26

The LORD detests the thoughts of the wicked, but those of the pure are pleasing to him.

恶谋为耶和华所憎恶;良言乃为纯净。

箴15:27

A greedy man brings trouble to his family, but he who hates bribes will live.

贪恋财利的,扰害己家;恨恶贿赂的,必得存活。

箴15:28

The heart of the righteous weighs its answers, but the mouth of the wicked gushes evil.

义人的心,思量如何回答;恶人的口,吐出恶言。

箴15:29

The LORD is far from the wicked but he hears the prayer of the righteous.

耶和华远离恶人,却听义人的祷告。

箴15:30

A cheerful look brings joy to the heart, and good news gives health to the bones.

眼有光,使心喜乐;好信息,使骨滋润。

箴15:31

He who listens to a life-giving rebuke will be at home among the wise.

听从生命责备的,必常在智慧人中。

箴15:32

He who ignores discipline despises himself, but whoever heeds correction gains understanding.

弃绝管教的,轻看自己的生命;听从责备的,却得智慧。

箴15:33

The fear of the LORD teaches a man wisdom, and humility comes before honor.

敬畏耶和华,是智慧的训诲;尊荣以前,必有谦卑。

箴言第16章

箴16:1

To man belong the plans of the heart, but from the LORD comes the reply of the tongue.

心中的谋算在乎人;舌头的应对由于耶和华。

箴16:2

All a man’s ways seem innocent to him, but motives are weighed by the LORD.

人一切所行的,在自己眼中看为清洁,惟有耶和华衡量人心。

箴16:3

Commit to the LORD whatever you do, and your plans will succeed.

你所做的,要交托耶和华,你所谋的,就必成立。

箴16:4

The LORD works out everything for his own ends–even the wicked for a day of disaster.

耶和华所造的,各适其用,就是恶人,也为祸患的日子所造。

箴16:5

The LORD detests all the proud of heart. Be sure of this: They will not go unpunished.

凡心里骄傲的,为耶和华所憎恶,虽然连手,他必不免受罚。

箴16:6

Through love and faithfulness sin is atoned for; through the fear of the LORD a man avoids evil.

因怜悯诚实,罪孽得赎;敬畏耶和华的,远离恶事。

箴16:7

When a man’s ways are pleasing to the LORD, he makes even his enemies live at peace with him.

人所行的,若蒙耶和华喜悦,耶和华也使他的仇敌与他和好。

箴16:8

Better a little with righteousness than much gain with injustice.

多有财利,行事不义,不如少有财利,行事公义。

箴16:9

In his heart a man plans his course, but the LORD determines his steps.

人心筹算自己的道路,惟耶和华指引他的脚步。

箴16:10

The lips of a king speak as an oracle, and his mouth should not betray justice.

王的嘴中有 神语,审判之时,他的口必不差错。

箴16:11

Honest scales and balances are from the LORD; all the weights in the bag are of his making.

公道的天平和秤都属耶和华;囊中一切法码都为他所定。

箴16:12

Kings detest wrongdoing, for a throne is established through righteousness.

作恶,为王所憎恶,因国位是靠公义坚立。

箴16:13

Kings take pleasure in honest lips; they value a man who speaks the truth.

公义的嘴,为王所喜悦;说正直话的,为王所喜爱。

箴16:14

A king’s wrath is a messenger of death, but a wise man will appease it.

王的震怒如杀人的使者,但智慧人能止息王怒。

箴16:15

When a king’s face brightens, it means life; his favor is like a rain cloud in spring.

王的脸光使人有生命;王的恩典好像春云时雨。

箴16:16

How much better to get wisdom than gold, to choose understanding rather than silver!

得智慧胜似得金子;选聪明强如选银子。

箴16:17

The highway of the upright avoids evil; he who guards his way guards his life.

正直人的道,是远离恶事;谨守己路的,是保全性命。

箴16:18

Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall.

骄傲在败坏以先;狂心在跌倒之前。

箴16:19

Better to be lowly in spirit and among the oppressed than to share plunder with the proud.

心里谦卑与穷乏人来往,强如将掳物与骄傲人同分。

箴16:20

Whoever gives heed to instruction prospers, and blessed is he who trusts in the LORD.

谨守训言的,必得好处;倚靠耶和华的,便为有福!

箴16:21

The wise in heart are called discerning, and pleasant words promote instruction.

心中有智慧,必称为通达人;嘴中的甜言,加增人的学问。

箴16:22

Understanding is a fountain of life to those who have it, but folly brings punishment to fools.

人有智慧就有生命的泉源;愚昧人必被愚昧惩治。

箴16:23

A wise man’s heart guides his mouth, and his lips promote instruction.

智慧人的心教训他的口,又使他的嘴增长学问。

箴16:24

Pleasant words are a honeycomb, sweet to the soul and healing to the bones.

良言如同蜂房,使心觉甘甜,使骨得医治。

Gray hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained by a righteous life.

白发是荣耀的冠冕,在公义的道上,必能得着。

Better a patient man than a warrior, a man who controls his temper than one who takes a city.

不轻易发怒的,胜过勇士;治服己心的,强如取城。

箴16:33

The lot is cast into the lap, but its every decision is from the LORD.

箴言第17章

箴17:1

Better a dry crust with peace and quiet than a house full of feasting, with strife.

设筵满屋,大家相争,不如有块干饼,大家相安。

箴17:2

A wise servant will rule over a disgraceful son, and will share the inheritance as one of the brothers.

仆人办事聪明,必管辖贻羞之人,又在众子中同分产业。

箴17:3

The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but the LORD tests the heart.

鼎为炼银,炉为炼金;惟有耶和华熬炼人心。

箴17:4

A wicked man listens to evil lips; a liar pays attention to a malicious tongue.

行恶的,留心听奸诈之言;说谎的,侧耳听邪恶之语。

箴17:5

He who mocks the poor shows contempt for their Maker; whoever gloats over disaster will not go unpunished.

戏笑穷人的,是辱没造他的主;幸灾乐祸的,必不免受罚。

箴17:6

Children’s children are a crown to the aged, and parents are the pride of their children.

子孙为老人的冠冕;父亲是儿女的荣耀。

箴17:7

Arrogant lips are unsuited to a fool–how much worse lying lips to a ruler!

愚顽人说美言本不相宜,何况君王说谎话呢?

箴17:8

A bribe is a charm to the one who gives it; wherever he turns, he succeeds.

贿赂在馈送的人眼中看为宝玉,随处运动都得顺利。

箴17:9

He who covers over an offense promotes love, but whoever repeats the matter separates close friends.

遮掩人过的,寻求人爱;屡次挑错的,离间密友。

箴17:10

A rebuke impresses a man of discernment more than a hundred lashes a fool.

一句责备话深入聪明人的心,强如责打愚昧人一百下。

箴17:11

An evil man is bent only on rebellion; a merciless official will be sent against him.

恶人只寻背叛,所以必有严厉的使者奉差攻击他。

箴17:12

Better to meet a bear robbed of her cubs than a fool in his folly.

宁可遇见丢崽子的母熊,不可遇见正行愚妄的愚昧人。

箴17:13

If a man pays back evil for good, evil will never leave his house.

以恶报善的,祸患必不离他的家。

箴17:14

Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam; so drop the matter before a dispute breaks out.

纷争的起头如水放开,所以在争闹之先,必当止息争竞。

箴17:15

Acquitting the guilty and condemning the innocent–the LORD detests them both.

定恶人为义的,定义人为恶的,这都为耶和华所憎恶。

箴17:16

Of what use is money in the hand of a fool, since he has no desire to get wisdom?

愚昧人既无聪明,为何手拿价银买智慧呢?

箴17:17

A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.

朋友乃时常亲爱;弟兄为患难而生。

箴17:18

A man lacking in judgment strikes hands in pledge and puts up security for his neighbor.

在邻舍面前击掌作保,乃是无知的人。

箴17:19

He who loves a quarrel loves sin; he who builds a high gate invites destruction.

喜爱争竞的,是喜爱过犯;高立家门的,乃自取败坏。

箴17:20

A man of perverse heart does not prosper; he whose tongue is deceitful falls into trouble.

心存邪僻的,寻不着好处;舌弄是非的,陷在祸患中。

箴17:21

To have a fool for a son brings grief; there is no joy for the father of a fool.

生愚昧子的,必自愁苦,愚顽人的父毫无喜乐。

箴17:22

A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.

喜乐的心,乃是良药;忧伤的灵,使骨枯干。

箴17:23

A wicked man accepts a bribe in secret to pervert the course of justice.

恶人暗中受贿赂,为要颠倒判断。

箴17:24

A discerning man keeps wisdom in view, but a fool’s eyes wander to the ends of the earth.

明哲人眼前有智慧,愚昧人眼望地极。

箴17:25

A foolish son brings grief to his father and bitterness to the one who bore him.

箴17:26

It is not good to punish an innocent man, or to flog officials for their integrity.

刑罚义人为不善;责打君子为不义。

A man of knowledge uses words with restraint, and a man of understanding is even-tempered.

Even a fool is thought wise if he keeps silent, and discerning if he holds his tongue.

箴18:1

An unfriendly man pursues selfish ends; he defies all sound judgment.

与众寡合的,独自寻求心愿,并恼恨一切真智慧。

箴18:2

A fool finds no pleasure in understanding but delights in airing his own opinions.

愚昧人不喜爱明哲,只喜爱显露心意。

箴18:3

When wickedness comes, so does contempt, and with shame comes disgrace.

恶人来,藐视随来;羞耻到,辱骂同到。

箴18:4

The words of a man’s mouth are deep waters, but the fountain of wisdom is a bubbling brook.

It is not good to be partial to the wicked or to deprive the innocent of justice.

A fool’s lips bring him strife, and his mouth invites a beating.

愚昧人张嘴启争端,开口招鞭打。

箴18:7

A fool’s mouth is his undoing, and his lips are a snare to his soul.

愚昧人的口自取败坏,他的嘴是他生命的网罗。

箴18:8

The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to a man’s inmost parts.

传舌人的言语,如同美食深入人的心腹。

箴18:9

One who is slack in his work is brother to one who destroys.

做工懈怠的,与浪费人为弟兄。

箴18:10

The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.

耶和华的名是坚固台,义人奔入,便得安稳。

箴18:11

The wealth of the rich is their fortified city; they imagine it an unscalable wall.

富足人的财物是他的坚城,在他心想,犹如高墙。

箴18:12

Before his downfall a man’s heart is proud, but humility comes before honor.

败坏之先,人心骄傲;尊荣以前,必有谦卑。

箴18:13

He who answers before listening–that is his folly and his shame.

未曾听完先回答的,便是他的愚昧和羞辱。

箴18:14

A man’s spirit sustains him in sickness, but a crushed spirit who can bear?

人有疾病,心能忍耐;心灵忧伤,谁能承当呢?

箴18:15

The heart of the discerning acquires knowledge; the ears of the wise seek it out.

聪明人的心得知识,智慧人的耳求知识;

箴18:16

A gift opens the way for the giver and ushers him into the presence of the great.

人的礼物为他开路,引他到高位的人面前。

箴18:17

The first to present his case seems right, till another comes forward and questions him.

先诉情由的,似乎有理,但邻舍来到,就察出实情。

箴18:18

Casting the lot settles disputes and keeps strong opponents apart.

掣签能止息争竞,也能解散强胜的人。

箴18:19

An offended brother is more unyielding than a fortified city, and disputes are like the barred gates of a citadel.

弟兄结怨,劝他和好,比取坚固城还难,这样的争竞,如同坚寨的门闩。

箴18:20

From the fruit of his mouth a man’s stomach is filled; with the harvest from his lips he is satisfied.

人口中所结的果子,必充满肚腹;他嘴所出的,必使他饱足。

箴18:21

The tongue has the power of life and death, and those who love it will eat its fruit.

生死在舌头的权下,喜爱它的,必吃它所结的果子。

箴18:22

He who finds a wife finds what is good and receives favor from the LORD.

得着贤妻的,是得着好处,也是蒙了耶和华的恩惠。

箴18:23

A poor man pleads for mercy, but a rich man answers harshly.

贫穷人说哀求的话,富足人用威吓的话回答。

箴18:24

A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother.

滥交朋友的,自取败坏;但有一朋友,比弟兄更亲密。

箴言第19章

箴19:1

Better a poor man whose walk is blameless than a fool whose lips are perverse.

行为纯正的贫穷人,胜过乖谬愚妄的富足人。

箴19:2

It is not good to have zeal without knowledge, nor to be hasty and miss the way.

心无知识的,乃为不善;脚步急快的,难免犯罪。

箴19:3

A man’s own folly ruins his life, yet his heart rages against the LORD.

人的愚昧倾败他的道,他的心也抱怨耶和华。

箴19:4

Wealth brings many friends, but a poor man’s friend deserts him.

财物使朋友增多,但穷人朋友远离。

箴19:5

A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who pours out lies will not go free.

作假见证的,必不免受罚;吐出谎言的,终不能逃脱。

箴19:6

Many curry favor with a ruler, and everyone is the friend of a man who gives gifts.

好施散的,有多人求他的恩情;爱送礼的,人都为他的朋友。

箴19:7

A poor man is shunned by all his relatives–how much more do his friends avoid him! Though he pursues them with pleading, they are nowhere to be found.

贫穷人,弟兄都恨他,何况他的朋友,更远离他!他用言语追随,他们却走了。

箴19:8

He who gets wisdom loves his own soul; he who cherishes understanding prospers.

得着智慧的,爱惜生命;保守聪明的,必得好处。

箴19:9

A false witness will not go unpunished, and he who pours out lies will perish.

作假见证的,不免受罚;吐出谎言的,也必灭亡。

箴19:10

It is not fitting for a fool to live in luxury–how much worse for a slave to rule over princes!

愚昧人宴乐度日,是不合宜的,何况仆人管辖王子呢?

箴19:11

A man’s wisdom gives him patience; it is to his glory to overlook an offense.

人有见识,就不轻易发怒,宽恕人的过失,便是自己的荣耀。

箴19:12

A king’s rage is like the roar of a lion, but his favor is like dew on the grass.

王的忿怒,好像狮子吼叫;他的恩典,却如草上的甘露。

箴19:13

A foolish son is his father’s ruin, and a quarrelsome wife is like a constant dripping.

愚昧的儿子,是父亲的祸患;妻子的争吵,如雨连连滴漏。

箴19:14

Houses and wealth are inherited from parents, but a prudent wife is from the LORD.

房屋钱财是祖宗所遗留的;惟有贤慧的妻是耶和华所赐的。

箴19:15

Laziness brings on deep sleep, and the shiftless man goes hungry.

懒惰使人沉睡,懈怠的人必受饥饿。

箴19:16

He who obeys instructions guards his life, but he who is contemptuous of his ways will die.

谨守诫命的,保全生命;轻忽己路的,必致死亡。

箴19:17

He who is kind to the poor lends to the LORD, and he will reward him for what he has done.

怜悯贫穷的,就是借给耶和华,他的善行,耶和华必偿还。

箴19:18

Discipline your son, for in that there is hope; do not be a willing party to his death.

趁有指望,管教你的儿子,你的心不可任他死亡。

箴19:19

A hot-tempered man must pay the penalty; if you rescue him, you will have to do it again.

暴怒的人必受刑罚;你若救他,必须再救。

箴19:20

Listen to advice and accept instruction, and in the end you will be wise.

你要听劝教、受训诲,使你终久有智慧。

箴19:21

Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the LORD’S purpose that prevails.

人心多有计谋,惟有耶和华的筹算,才能立定。

箴19:22

What a man desires is unfailing love; better to be poor than a liar.

施行仁慈的,令人爱慕;穷人强如说谎言的。

箴19:23

The fear of the LORD leads to life: Then one rests content, untouched by trouble.

敬畏耶和华的,得着生命,他必恒久知足,不遭祸患。

箴19:24

The sluggard buries his hand in the dish; he will not even bring it back to his mouth!

懒惰人放手在盘子里,就是向口撤回,他也不肯。

箴19:25

Flog a mocker, and the simple will learn prudence; rebuke a discerning man, and he will gain knowledge.

鞭打亵慢人,愚蒙人必长见识;责备明哲人,他就明白知识。

箴19:26

He who robs his father and drives out his mother is a son who brings shame and disgrace.

虐待父亲、撵出母亲的,是贻羞致辱之子。

箴19:27

Stop listening to instruction, my son, and you will stray from the words of knowledge.

我儿,不可听了教训,而又偏离知识的言语。

箴19:28

A corrupt witness mocks at justice, and the mouth of the wicked gulps down evil.

匪徒作见证戏笑公平;恶人的口吞下罪孽。

箴19:29

Penalties are prepared for mockers, and beatings for the backs of fools.

刑罚是为亵慢人预备的;鞭打是为愚昧人的背预备的。

箴言第20章

箴20:1

Wine is a mocker and beer a brawler; whoever is led astray by them is not wise.

酒能使人亵慢,浓酒使人喧嚷,凡因酒错误的,就无智慧。

箴20:2

A king’s wrath is like the roar of a lion; he who angers him forfeits his life.

王的威吓,如同狮子吼叫;惹动他怒的,是自害己命。

箴20:3

It is to a man’s honor to avoid strife, but every fool is quick to quarrel.

远离纷争,是人的尊荣;愚妄人都爱争闹。

箴20:4

A sluggard does not plow in season; so at harvest time he looks but finds nothing.

懒惰人因冬寒不肯耕种,到收割的时候,他必讨饭而无所得。

箴20:5

The purposes of a man’s heart are deep waters, but a man of understanding draws them out.

人心怀藏谋略,好像深水,惟明哲人才能汲引出来。

箴20:6

Many a man claims to have unfailing love, but a faithful man who can find?

人多述说自己的仁慈,但忠信人谁能遇着呢?

箴20:7

The righteous man leads a blameless life; blessed are his children after him.

行为纯正的义人,他的子孙是有福的!

箴20:8

When a king sits on his throne to judge, he winnows out all evil with his eyes.

王坐在审判的位上,以眼目驱散诸恶。

箴20:9

Who can say, “I have kept my heart pure; I am clean and without sin”?

谁能说“我洁净了我的心,我脱净了我的罪”?

箴20:10

Differing weights and differing measures–the LORD detests them both.

两样的法码,两样的升斗,都为耶和华所憎恶。

箴20:11

Even a child is known by his actions, by whether his conduct is pure and right.

孩童的动作,是清洁,是正直,都显明他的本性。

箴20:12

Ears that hear and eyes that see–the LORD has made them both.

能听的耳,能看的眼,都是耶和华所造的。

箴20:13

Do not love sleep or you will grow poor; stay awake and you will have food to spare.

不要贪睡,免致贫穷;眼要睁开,你就吃饱。

箴20:14

“It’s no good, it’s no good!” says the buyer; then off he goes and boasts about his purchase.

买物的说:“不好,不好!”及至买去,他便自夸。

箴20:15

Gold there is, and rubies in abundance, but lips that speak knowledge are a rare jewel.

有金子和许多珍珠(或作“红宝石”),惟有知识的嘴,乃为贵重的珍宝。

箴20:16

Take the garment of one who puts up security for a stranger; hold it in pledge if he does it for a wayward woman.

谁为生人作保,就拿谁的衣服;谁为外人作保,谁就要承当。

箴20:17

Food gained by fraud tastes sweet to a man, but he ends up with a mouth full of gravel.

以虚谎而得的食物,人觉甘甜,但后来他的口必充满尘沙。

箴20:18

Make plans by seeking advice; if you wage war, obtain guidance.

计谋都凭筹算立定;打仗要凭智谋。

箴20:19

A gossip betrays a confidence; so avoid a man who talks too much.

往来传舌的,泄漏密事;大张嘴的,不可与他结交。

箴20:20

If a man curses his father or mother, his lamp will be snuffed out in pitch darkness.

咒骂父母的,他的灯必灭,变为漆黑的黑暗。

箴20:21

An inheritance quickly gained at the beginning will not be blessed at the end.

起初速得的产业,终久却不为福。

箴20:22

Do not say, “I’ll pay you back for this wrong!” Wait for the LORD, and he will deliver you.

你不要说:“我要以恶报恶”;要等候耶和华,他必拯救你。

箴20:23

The LORD detests differing weights, and dishonest scales do not please him.

两样的法码,为耶和华所憎恶;诡诈的天平,也为不善。

箴20:24

A man’s steps are directed by the LORD. How then can anyone understand his own way?

人的脚步为耶和华所定,人岂能明白自己的路呢?

箴20:25

It is a trap for a man to dedicate something rashly and only later to consider his vows.

人冒失说,这是圣物,许愿之后才查问,就是自陷网罗。

箴20:26

A wise king winnows out the wicked; he drives the threshing wheel over them.

智慧的王簸散恶人,用碌碡滚轧他们。

箴20:27

The lamp of the LORD searches the spirit of a man; it searches out his inmost being.

人的灵是耶和华的灯,鉴察人的心腹。

箴20:28

Love and faithfulness keep a king safe; through love his throne is made secure.

王因仁慈和诚实,得以保全他的国位,也因仁慈立稳。

箴20:29

The glory of young men is their strength, gray hair the splendor of the old.

强壮乃少年人的荣耀;白发为老年人的尊荣。

箴20:30

Blows and wounds cleanse away evil, and beatings purge the inmost being.

鞭伤除净人的罪恶;责打能入人的心腹。

箴言第21章

箴21:1

The king’s heart is in the hand of the LORD; he directs it like a watercourse wherever he pleases.

王的心在耶和华手中,好像陇沟的水随意流转。

箴21:2

All a man’s ways seem right to him, but the LORD weighs the heart.

人所行的,在自己眼中都看为正,惟有耶和华衡量人心。

箴21:3

To do what is right and just is more acceptable to the LORD than sacrifice.

行仁义公平,比献祭更蒙耶和华悦纳。

箴21:4

Haughty eyes and a proud heart, the lamp of the wicked, are sin!

恶人发达(原文作“灯”),眼高心傲,这乃是罪。

箴21:5

The plans of the diligent lead to profit as surely as haste leads to poverty.

殷勤筹划的,足致丰裕;行事急躁的,都必缺乏。

箴21:6

A fortune made by a lying tongue is a fleeting vapor and a deadly snare.

用诡诈之舌求财的,就是自己取死;所得之财,乃是吹来吹去的浮云。

箴21:7

The violence of the wicked will drag them away, for they refuse to do what is right.

恶人的强暴,必将自己扫除,因他们不肯按公平行事。

箴21:8

The way of the guilty is devious, but the conduct of the innocent is upright.

负罪之人的路,甚是弯曲;至于清洁的人,他所行的乃是正直。

箴21:9

Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.

宁可住在房顶的角上,不在宽阔的房屋,与争吵的妇人同住。

箴21:10

The wicked man craves evil; his neighbor gets no mercy from him.

恶人的心,乐人受祸,他眼并不怜恤邻舍。

箴21:11

When a mocker is punished, the simple gain wisdom; when a wise man is instructed, he gets knowledge.

亵慢的人受刑罚,愚蒙的人就得智慧;智慧人受训诲,便得知识。

箴21:12

The Righteous One takes note of the house of the wicked and brings the wicked to ruin.

义人思想恶人的家,知道恶人倾倒,必致灭亡。

箴21:13

If a man shuts his ears to the cry of the poor, he too will cry out and not be answered.

塞耳不听穷人哀求的,他将来呼吁也不蒙应允。

箴21:14

A gift given in secret soothes anger, and a bribe concealed in the cloak pacifies great wrath.

暗中送的礼物,挽回怒气;怀中搋的贿赂,止息暴怒。

箴21:15

When justice is done, it brings joy to the righteous but terror to evildoers.

秉公行义,使义人喜乐,使作孽的人败坏。

箴21:16

A man who strays from the path of understanding comes to rest in the company of the dead.

迷离通达道路的,必住在阴魂的会中。

箴21:17

He who loves pleasure will become poor; whoever loves wine and oil will never be rich.

爱宴乐的,必致穷乏;好酒、爱膏油的,必不富足。

箴21:18

The wicked become a ransom for the righteous, and the unfaithful for the upright.

恶人作了义人的赎价;奸诈人代替正直人。

箴21:19

Better to live in a desert than with a quarrelsome and ill-tempered wife.

宁可住在旷野,不与争吵使气的妇人同住。

箴21:20

In the house of the wise are stores of choice food and oil, but a foolish man devours all he has.

智慧人家中积蓄宝物膏油;愚昧人随得来随吞下。

箴21:21

He who pursues righteousness and love finds life, prosperity and honor.

追求公义仁慈的,就寻得生命、公义和尊荣。

箴21:22

A wise man attacks the city of the mighty and pulls down the stronghold in which they trust.

智慧人爬上勇士的城墙,倾覆他所倚靠的坚垒。

箴21:23

He who guards his mouth and his tongue keeps himself from calamity.

谨守口与舌的,就保守自己免受灾难。

箴21:24

The proud and arrogant man–“Mocker” is his name; he behaves with overweening pride.

心骄气傲的人,名叫亵慢,他行事狂妄,都出于骄傲。

箴21:25

The sluggard’s craving will be the death of him, because his hands refuse to work.

懒惰人的心愿,将他杀害,因为他手不肯做工。

箴21:26

All day long he craves for more, but the righteous give without sparing.

有终日贪得无餍的;义人施舍而不吝惜。

箴21:27

The sacrifice of the wicked is detestable–how much more so when brought with evil intent!

恶人的祭物是可憎的,何况他存恶意来献呢?

箴21:28

A false witness will perish, and whoever listens to him will be destroyed forever.

作假见证的必灭亡;惟有听真情而言的,其言长存。

箴21:29

A wicked man puts up a bold front, but an upright man gives thought to his ways.

恶人脸无羞耻;正直人行事坚定。

箴21:30

There is no wisdom, no insight, no plan that can succeed against the LORD.

没有人能以智慧、聪明、谋略敌挡耶和华。

箴21:31

The horse is made ready for the day of battle, but victory rests with the LORD.

马是为打仗之日预备的,得胜乃在乎耶和华。

箴言第22章

箴22:1

A good name is more desirable than great riches; to be esteemed is better than silver or gold.

美名胜过大财;恩宠强如金银。

箴22:2

Rich and poor have this in common: The LORD is the Maker of them all.

富户穷人在世相遇,都为耶和华所造。

箴22:3

A prudent man sees danger and takes refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it.

通达人见祸藏躲;愚蒙人前往受害。

箴22:4

Humility and the fear of the LORD bring wealth and honor and life.

敬畏耶和华心存谦卑,就得富有、尊荣、生命为赏赐。

箴22:5

In the paths of the wicked lie thorns and snares, but he who guards his soul stays far from them.

乖僻人的路上,有荆棘和网罗,保守自己生命的,必要远离。

箴22:6

Train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it.

教养孩童,使他走当行的道,就是到老他也不偏离。

箴22:7

The rich rule over the poor, and the borrower is servant to the lender.

富户管辖穷人,欠债的是债主的仆人。

箴22:8

He who sows wickedness reaps trouble, and the rod of his fury will be destroyed.

撒罪孽的,必收灾祸;他逞怒的杖,也必废掉。

箴22:9

A generous man will himself be blessed, for he shares his food with the poor.

眼目慈善的,就必蒙福,因他将食物分给穷人。

箴22:10

Drive out the mocker, and out goes strife; quarrels and insults are ended.

赶出亵慢人,争端就消除,纷争和羞辱也必止息。

箴22:11

He who loves a pure heart and whose speech is gracious will have the king for his friend.

喜爱清心的人,因他嘴上的恩言,王必与他为友。

箴22:12

The eyes of the LORD keep watch over knowledge, but he frustrates the words of the unfaithful.

耶和华的眼目眷顾聪明人,却倾败奸诈人的言语。

箴22:13

The sluggard says, “There is a lion outside!” or, “I will be murdered in the streets!”

懒惰人说:“外头有狮子,我在街上就必被杀。”

箴22:14

The mouth of an adulteress is a deep pit; he who is under the LORD’S wrath will fall into it.

淫妇的口为深坑,耶和华所憎恶的,必陷在其中。

箴22:15

Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline will drive it far from him.

愚蒙迷住孩童的心,用管教的杖可以远远赶除。

箴22:16

He who oppresses the poor to increase his wealth and he who gives gifts to the rich–both come to poverty.

欺压贫穷为要利己的,并送礼与富户的,都必缺乏。

箴22:17

Pay attention and listen to the sayings of the wise; apply your heart to what I teach,

你须侧耳听受智慧人的言语,留心领会我的知识;

箴22:18

for it is pleasing when you keep them in your heart and have all of them ready on your lips.

你若心中存记,嘴上咬定,这便为美!

箴22:19

So that your trust may be in the LORD, I teach you today, even you.

我今日以此特别指教你,为要使你倚靠耶和华。

箴22:20

Have I not written thirty sayings for you, sayings of counsel and knowledge,

谋略和知识的美事,我岂没有写给你吗?

箴22:21

teaching you true and reliable words, so that you can give sound answers to him who sent you?

要使你知道真言的实理,你好将真言回覆那打发你来的人。

箴22:22

Do not exploit the poor because they are poor and do not crush the needy in court,

贫穷人,你不可因他贫穷就抢夺他的物,也不可在城门口欺压困苦人。

箴22:23

for the LORD will take up their case and will plunder those who plunder them.

因耶和华必为他辨屈,抢夺他的,耶和华必夺取那人的命。

箴22:24

Do not make friends with a hot-tempered man, do not associate with one easily angered,

好生气的人,不可与他结交;暴怒的人,不可与他来往,

箴22:25

or you may learn his ways and get yourself ensnared.

恐怕你效法他的行为,自己就陷在网罗里。

箴22:26

Do not be a man who strikes hands in pledge or puts up security for debts;

不要与人击掌,不要为欠债的作保。

箴22:27

if you lack the means to pay, your very bed will be snatched from under you.

你若没有什么偿还,何必使人夺去你睡卧的床呢?

箴22:28

Do not move an ancient boundary stone set up by your forefathers.

你先祖所立的地界,你不可挪移。

箴22:29

Do you see a man skilled in his work? He will serve before kings; he will not serve before obscure men.

你看见办事殷勤的人吗?他必站在君王面前,必不站在下贱人面前。

箴言第23章

箴23:1

When you sit to dine with a ruler, note well what is before you,

你若与官长坐席,要留意在你面前的是谁。

箴23:2

and put a knife to your throat if you are given to gluttony.

你若是贪食的,就当拿刀放在喉咙上。

箴23:3

Do not crave his delicacies, for that food is deceptive.

不可贪恋他的美食,因为是哄人的食物。

箴23:4

Do not wear yourself out to get rich; have the wisdom to show restraint.

不要劳碌求富,休仗自己的聪明。

箴23:5

Cast but a glance at riches, and they are gone, for they will surely sprout wings and fly off to the sky like an eagle.

你岂要定睛在虚无的钱财上吗?因钱财必长翅膀,如鹰向天飞去。

箴23:6

Do not eat the food of a stingy man, do not crave his delicacies;

不要吃恶眼人的饭,也不要贪他的美味。

箴23:7

for he is the kind of man who is always thinking about the cost. “Eat and drink,” he says to you, but his heart is not with you.

因为他心怎样思量,他为人就是怎样。他虽对你说:“请吃,请喝”,他的心却与你相背。

箴23:8

You will vomit up the little you have eaten and will have wasted your compliments.

你所吃的那点食物必吐出来;你所说的甘美言语也必落空。

箴23:9

Do not speak to a fool, for he will scorn the wisdom of your words.

你不要说话给愚昧人听,因他必藐视你智慧的言语。

箴23:10

Do not move an ancient boundary stone or encroach on the fields of the fatherless,

不可挪移古时的地界,也不可侵入孤儿的田地。

箴23:11

for their Defender is strong; he will take up their case against you.

因他们的救赎主大有能力,他必向你为他们辨屈。

箴23:12

Apply your heart to instruction and your ears to words of knowledge.

你要留心领受训诲,侧耳听从知识的言语。

箴23:13

Do not withhold discipline from a child; if you punish him with the rod, he will not die.

不可不管教孩童,你用杖打他,他必不至于死。

箴23:14

Punish him with the rod and save his soul from death.

你要用杖打他,就可以救他的灵魂免下阴间。

箴23:15

My son, if your heart is wise, then my heart will be glad;

我儿,你心若存智慧,我的心也甚欢喜;

箴23:16

my inmost being will rejoice when your lips speak what is right.

你的嘴若说正直话,我的心肠也必快乐。

箴23:17

Do not let your heart envy sinners, but always be zealous for the fear of the LORD.

你心中不要嫉妒罪人,只要终日敬畏耶和华。

箴23:18

There is surely a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.

因为至终必有善报,你的指望也不至断绝。

箴23:19

Listen, my son, and be wise, and keep your heart on the right path.

我儿,你当听,当存智慧,好在正道上引导你的心。

箴23:20

Do not join those who drink too much wine or gorge themselves on meat,

好饮酒的,好吃肉的,不要与他们来往。

箴23:21

for drunkards and gluttons become poor, and drowsiness clothes them in rags.

因为好酒贪食的,必致贫穷;好睡觉的,必穿破烂衣服。

箴23:22

Listen to your father, who gave you life, and do not despise your mother when she is old.

你要听从生你的父亲;你母亲老了,也不可藐视她。

箴23:23

Buy the truth and do not sell it; get wisdom, discipline and understanding.

你当买真理;就是智慧、训诲和聪明也都不可卖。

箴23:24

The father of a righteous man has great joy; he who has a wise son delights in him.

义人的父亲,必大得快乐;人生智慧的儿子,必因他欢喜。

箴23:25

May your father and mother be glad; may she who gave you birth rejoice!

箴23:26

My son, give me your heart and let your eyes keep to my ways,

我儿,要将你的心归我,你的眼目也要喜悦我的道路。

箴23:27

for a prostitute is a deep pit and a wayward wife is a narrow well.

妓女是深坑,外女是窄阱。

箴23:28

Like a bandit she lies in wait, and multiplies the unfaithful among men.

她埋伏好像强盗,她使人中多有奸诈的。

箴23:29

Who has woe? Who has sorrow? Who has strife? Who has complaints? Who has needless bruises? Who has bloodshot eyes?

谁有祸患?谁有忧愁?谁有争斗?谁有哀叹(或作“怨言”)?谁无故受伤?谁眼目红赤?

箴23:30

Those who linger over wine, who go to sample bowls of mixed wine.

就是那流连饮酒,常去寻找调和酒的人。

箴23:31

Do not gaze at wine when it is red, when it sparkles in the cup, when it goes down smoothly!

酒发红,在杯中闪烁,你不可观看,

箴23:32

In the end it bites like a snake and poisons like a viper.

虽然下咽舒畅,终久是咬你如蛇,刺你如毒蛇。

箴23:33

Your eyes will see strange sights and your mind imagine confusing things.

你眼必看见异怪的事(“异怪的事”或作“淫妇”),你心必发出乖谬的话。

箴23:34

You will be like one sleeping on the high seas, lying on top of the rigging.

你必像躺在海中,或像卧在桅杆上。

箴23:35

“They hit me,” you will say, “but I’m not hurt! They beat me, but I don’t feel it! When will I wake up so I can find another drink?”

你必说:“人打我,我却未受伤;人鞭打我,我竟不觉得。我几时清醒,我仍去寻酒。”

箴言第24章

箴24:1

Do not envy wicked men, do not desire their company;

你不要嫉妒恶人,也不要起意与他们相处,

箴24:2

for their hearts plot violence, and their lips talk about making trouble.

因为他们的心图谋强暴,他们的口谈论奸恶。

箴24:3

By wisdom a house is built, and through understanding it is established;

房屋因智慧建造,又因聪明立稳,

箴24:4

through knowledge its rooms are filled with rare and beautiful treasures.

其中因知识充满各样美好宝贵的财物。

箴24:5

A wise man has great power, and a man of knowledge increases strength;

智慧人大有能力,有知识的人力上加力。

箴24:6

for waging war you need guidance, and for victory many advisers.

你去打仗,要凭智谋;谋士众多,人便得胜。

箴24:7

Wisdom is too high for a fool; in the assembly at the gate he has nothing to say.

智慧极高,非愚昧人所能及,所以在城门内不敢开口。

箴24:8

He who plots evil will be known as a schemer.

设计作恶的,必称为奸人。

箴24:9

The schemes of folly are sin, and men detest a mocker.

愚妄人的思念乃是罪恶,亵慢者为人所憎恶。

箴24:10

If you falter in times of trouble, how small is your strength!

你在患难之日若胆怯,你的力量就微小。

箴24:11

Rescue those being led away to death; hold back those staggering toward slaughter.

人被拉到死地,你要解救;人将被杀,你须拦阻。

箴24:12

If you say, “But we knew nothing about this,” does not he who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not he who guards your life know it? Will he not repay each person according to what he has done?

你若说:“这事我未曾知道”,那衡量人心的,岂不明白吗?保守你命的,岂不知道吗?他岂不按各人所行的报应各人吗?

箴24:13

Eat honey, my son, for it is good; honey from the comb is sweet to your taste.

我儿,你要吃蜜,因为是好的,吃蜂房下滴的蜜,便觉甘甜。

箴24:14

Know also that wisdom is sweet to your soul; if you find it, there is a future hope for you, and your hope will not be cut off.

你心得了智慧,也必觉得如此。你若找着,至终必有善报;你的指望,也不至断绝。

箴24:15

Do not lie in wait like an outlaw against a righteous man’s house, do not raid his dwelling place;

你这恶人,不要埋伏攻击义人的家,不要毁坏他安居之所。

箴24:16

for though a righteous man falls seven times, he rises again, but the wicked are brought down by calamity.

因为义人虽七次跌倒,仍必兴起;恶人却被祸患倾倒。

箴24:17

Do not gloat when your enemy falls; when he stumbles, do not let your heart rejoice,

你仇敌跌倒,你不要欢喜;他倾倒,你心不要快乐,

箴24:18

or the LORD will see and disapprove and turn his wrath away from him.

恐怕耶和华看见就不喜悦,将怒气从仇敌身上转过来。

箴24:19

Do not fret because of evil men or be envious of the wicked,

不要为作恶的心怀不平,也不要嫉妒恶人,

箴24:20

for the evil man has no future hope, and the lamp of the wicked will be snuffed out.

因为恶人终不得善报,恶人的灯,也必熄灭。

箴24:21

Fear the LORD and the king, my son, and do not join with the rebellious,

我儿,你要敬畏耶和华与君王,不要与反覆无常的人结交,

箴24:22

for those two will send sudden destruction upon them, and who knows what calamities they can bring?

因为他们的灾难必忽然而起。耶和华与君王所施行的毁灭,谁能知道呢?

箴24:23

These also are sayings of the wise: To show partiality in judging is not good:

以下也是智慧人的箴言:审判时看人情面是不好的。

箴24:24

Whoever says to the guilty, “You are innocent”–peoples will curse him and nations denounce him.

对恶人说“你是义人”的,这人万民必咒诅,列邦必憎恶。

箴24:25

But it will go well with those who convict the guilty, and rich blessing will come upon them.

责备恶人的,必得喜悦,美好的福也必临到他。

箴24:26

An honest answer is like a kiss on the lips.

应对正直的,犹如与人亲嘴。

箴24:27

Finish your outdoor work and get your fields ready; after that, build your house.

你要在外头预备工料,在田间办理整齐,然后建造房屋。

箴24:28

Do not testify against your neighbor without cause, or use your lips to deceive.

不可无故作见证陷害邻舍,也不可用嘴欺骗人。

箴24:29

Do not say, “I’ll do to him as he has done to me; I’ll pay that man back for what he did.”

不可说:“人怎样待我,我也怎样待他,我必照他所行的报复他。”

箴24:30

I went past the field of the sluggard, past the vineyard of the man who lacks judgment;

我经过懒惰人的田地、无知人的葡萄园,

箴24:31

thorns had come up everywhere, the ground was covered with weeds, and the stone wall was in ruins.

荆棘长满了地皮,刺草遮盖了田面,石墙也坍塌了。

箴24:32

I applied my heart to what I observed and learned a lesson from what I saw:

我看见就留心思想,我看着就领了训诲。

箴24:33

A little sleep, a little slumber, a little folding of the hands to rest–

再睡片时,打盹片时,抱着手躺卧片时,

箴24:34

and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man.

你的贫穷,就必如强盗速来,你的缺乏,仿佛拿兵器的人来到。

箴言第25章

箴25:1

These are more proverbs of Solomon, copied by the men of Hezekiah king of Judah:

以下也是所罗门的箴言,是犹大王希西家的人所誊录的。

箴25:2

It is the glory of God to conceal a matter; to search out a matter is the glory of kings.

将事隐秘,乃 神的荣耀;将事察清,乃君王的荣耀。

箴25:3

As the heavens are high and the earth is deep, so the hearts of kings are unsearchable.

天之高,地之厚,君王之心也测不透。

箴25:4

Remove the dross from the silver, and out comes material for the silversmith;

除去银子的渣滓,就有银子出来,银匠能以作器皿;

箴25:5

remove the wicked from the king’s presence, and his throne will be established through righteousness.

除去王面前的恶人,国位就靠公义坚立。

箴25:6

Do not exalt yourself in the king’s presence, and do not claim a place among great men;

不要在王面前妄自尊大,不要在大人的位上站立。

箴25:7

it is better for him to say to you, “Come up here,” than for him to humiliate you before a nobleman. What you have seen with your eyes

宁可有人说:请你上来,强如在你觐见的王子面前叫你退下。

箴25:8

do not bring hastily to court, for what will you do in the end if your neighbor puts you to shame?

不要冒失出去与人争竞,免得至终被他羞辱,你就不知道怎样行了。

箴25:9

If you argue your case with a neighbor, do not betray another man’s confidence,

你与邻舍争讼,要与他一人辩论,不可泄漏人的密事,

箴25:10

or he who hears it may shame you and you will never lose your bad reputation.

恐怕听见的人骂你,你的臭名就难以脱离。

箴25:11

A word aptly spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver.

一句话说得合宜,就如金苹果在银网子里。

箴25:12

Like an earring of gold or an ornament of fine gold is a wise man’s rebuke to a listening ear.

智慧人的劝戒,在顺从的人耳中,好像金耳环和精金的妆饰。

箴25:13

Like the coolness of snow at harvest time is a trustworthy messenger to those who send him; he refreshes the spirit of his masters.

忠信的使者,叫差他的人心里舒畅,就如在收割时,有冰雪的凉气。

箴25:14

Like clouds and wind without rain is a man who boasts of gifts he does not give.

空夸赠送礼物的,好像无雨的风云。

箴25:15

Through patience a ruler can be persuaded, and a gentle tongue can break a bone.

恒常忍耐可以劝动君王,柔和的舌头能折断骨头。

箴25:16

If you find honey, eat just enough–too much of it, and you will vomit.

你得了蜜吗?只可吃够而已,恐怕你过饱就呕吐出来。

箴25:17

Seldom set foot in your neighbor’s house–too much of you, and he will hate you.

你的脚要少进邻舍的家,恐怕他厌烦你,恨恶你。

箴25:18

Like a club or a sword or a sharp arrow is the man who gives false testimony against his neighbor.

作假见证陷害邻舍的,就是大槌,是利刀,是快箭。

箴25:19

Like a bad tooth or a lame foot is reliance on the unfaithful in times of trouble.

患难时倚靠不忠诚的人,好像破坏的牙,错骨缝的脚。

箴25:20

Like one who takes away a garment on a cold day, or like vinegar poured on soda, is one who sings songs to a heavy heart.

对伤心的人唱歌,就如冷天脱衣服,又如碱上倒醋。

箴25:21

If your enemy is hungry, give him food to eat; if he is thirsty, give him water to drink.

你的仇敌若饿了,就给他饭吃,若渴了,就给他水喝;

箴25:22

In doing this, you will heap burning coals on his head, and the LORD will reward you.

因为你这样行,就是把炭火堆在他的头上;耶和华也必赏赐你。

箴25:23

As a north wind brings rain, so a sly tongue brings angry looks.

北风生雨,谗谤人的舌头也生怒容。

箴25:24

Better to live on a corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.

宁可住在房顶的角上,不在宽阔的房屋与争吵的妇人同住。

箴25:25

Like cold water to a weary soul is good news from a distant land.

有好消息从远方来,就如拿凉水给口渴的人喝。

箴25:26

Like a muddied spring or a polluted well is a righteous man who gives way to the wicked.

义人在恶人面前退缩,好象趟浑之泉,弄浊之井。

箴25:27

It is not good to eat too much honey, nor is it honorable to seek one’s own honor.

吃蜜过多是不好的,考究自己的荣耀也是可厌的。

箴25:28

Like a city whose walls are broken down is a man who lacks self-control.

人不制伏自己的心,好像毁坏的城邑,没有墙垣。

箴言第26章

箴26:1

Like snow in summer or rain in harvest, honor is not fitting for a fool.

夏天落雪,收割时下雨,都不相宜,愚昧人得尊荣也是如此。

箴26:2

Like a fluttering sparrow or a darting swallow, an undeserved curse does not come to rest.

麻雀往来,燕子翻飞,这样,无故的咒诅也必不临到。

箴26:3

A whip for the horse, a halter for the donkey, and a rod for the backs of fools!

鞭子是为打马,辔头是为勒驴;刑杖是为打愚昧人的背。

箴26:4

Do not answer a fool according to his folly, or you will be like him yourself.

不要照愚昧人的愚妄话回答他,恐怕你与他一样。

箴26:5

Answer a fool according to his folly, or he will be wise in his own eyes.

要照愚昧人的愚妄话回答他,免得他自以为有智慧。

箴26:6

Like cutting off one’s feet or drinking violence is the sending of a message by the hand of a fool.

借愚昧人手寄信的,是砍断自己的脚,自受损害(“自受”原文作“喝”)。

箴26:7

Like a lame man’s legs that hang limp is a proverb in the mouth of a fool.

瘸子的脚空存无用;箴言在愚昧人的口中也是如此。

箴26:8

Like tying a stone in a sling is the giving of honor to a fool.

将尊荣给愚昧人的,好像人把石子包在机弦里。

箴26:9

Like a thornbush in a drunkard’s hand is a proverb in the mouth of a fool.

箴言在愚昧人的口中,好像荆棘刺入醉汉的手。

箴26:10

Like an archer who wounds at random is he who hires a fool or any passer-by.

雇愚昧人的,与雇过路人的,就像射伤众人的弓箭手。

箴26:11

As a dog returns to its vomit, so a fool repeats his folly.

愚昧人行愚妄事,行了又行,就如狗转过来吃它所吐的。

箴26:12

Do you see a man wise in his own eyes? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

你见自以为有智慧的人吗?愚昧人比他更有指望。

箴26:13

The sluggard says, “There is a lion in the road, a fierce lion roaming the streets!”

懒惰人说:“道上有猛狮,街上有壮狮。”

箴26:14

As a door turns on its hinges, so a sluggard turns on his bed.

门在枢纽转动,懒惰人在床上也是如此。

箴26:15

The sluggard buries his hand in the dish; he is too lazy to bring it back to his mouth.

懒惰人放手在盘子里,就是向口撤回也以为劳乏。

箴26:16

The sluggard is wiser in his own eyes than seven men who answer discreetly.

懒惰人看自己,比七个善于应对的人更有智慧。

箴26:17

Like one who seizes a dog by the ears is a passer-by who meddles in a quarrel not his own.

过路被事激动,管理不干己的争竞,好像人揪住狗耳。

箴26:18

Like a madman shooting firebrands or deadly arrows

人欺凌邻舍,却说,我岂不是戏耍吗。他就像疯狂的人,抛掷火把,利箭,

箴26:19

is a man who deceives his neighbor and says, “I was only joking!”

与杀人的兵器。(杀人的兵器原文作死亡)

箴26:20

Without wood a fire goes out; without gossip a quarrel dies down.

火缺了柴,就必熄灭,无人传舌,争竞便止息。

箴26:21

As charcoal to embers and as wood to fire, so is a quarrelsome man for kindling strife.

好争竞的人煽惑争端,就如余火加炭,火上加柴一样。

箴26:22

The words of a gossip are like choice morsels; they go down to a man’s inmost parts.

传舌人的言语,如同美食,深入人的心腹。

箴26:23

Like a coating of glaze over earthenware are fervent lips with an evil heart.

火热的嘴,奸恶的心,好像银渣包的瓦器。

箴26:24

A malicious man disguises himself with his lips, but in his heart he harbors deceit.

怨恨人的,用嘴粉饰,心里却藏着诡诈。

箴26:25

Though his speech is charming, do not believe him, for seven abominations fill his heart.

他用甜言蜜语,你不可信他,因为他心中有七样可憎恶的。

箴26:26

His malice may be concealed by deception, but his wickedness will be exposed in the assembly.

他虽用诡诈遮掩自己的怨恨,他的邪恶必在会中显露。

箴26:27

If a man digs a pit, he will fall into it; if a man rolls a stone, it will roll back on him.

挖陷坑的,自己必掉在其中;滚石头的,石头必反滚在他身上。

箴26:28

A lying tongue hates those it hurts, and a flattering mouth works ruin.

虚谎的舌,恨他所压伤的人;谄媚的口,败坏人的事。

箴言第27章

箴27:1

Do not boast about tomorrow, for you do not know what a day may bring forth.

不要为明日自夸,因为一日要生何事,你尚且不能知道。

箴27:2

Let another praise you, and not your own mouth; someone else, and not your own lips.

要别人夸奖你,不可用口自夸;等外人称赞你,不可用嘴自称。

箴27:3

Stone is heavy and sand a burden, but provocation by a fool is heavier than both.

石头重,沙土沉,愚妄人的恼怒,比这两样更重。

箴27:4

Anger is cruel and fury overwhelming, but who can stand before jealousy?

忿怒为残忍,怒气为狂澜,惟有嫉妒,谁能敌得住呢?

箴27:5

Better is open rebuke than hidden love.

当面的责备,强如背地的爱情。

箴27:6

Wounds from a friend can be trusted, but an enemy multiplies kisses.

朋友加的伤痕,出于忠诚;仇敌连连亲嘴,却是多余。

箴27:7

He who is full loathes honey, but to the hungry even what is bitter tastes sweet.

人吃饱了,厌恶蜂房的蜜;人饥饿了,一切苦物都觉甘甜。

箴27:8

Like a bird that strays from its nest is a man who strays from his home.

人离本处飘流,好像雀鸟离窝游飞。

箴27:9

Perfume and incense bring joy to the heart, and the pleasantness of one’s friend springs from his earnest counsel.

膏油与香料,使人心喜悦,朋友诚实的劝教也是如此甘美。

箴27:10

Do not forsake your friend and the friend of your father, and do not go to your brother’s house when disaster strikes you–better a neighbor nearby than a brother far away.

你的朋友和父亲的朋友,你都不可离弃。你遭难的日子,不要上弟兄的家去,相近的邻舍,强如远方的弟兄。

箴27:11

Be wise, my son, and bring joy to my heart; then I can answer anyone who treats me with contempt.

我儿,你要作智慧人,好叫我的心欢喜,使我可以回答那讥诮我的人。

箴27:12

The prudent see danger and take refuge, but the simple keep going and suffer for it.

通达人见祸藏躲;愚蒙人前往受害。

箴27:13

Take the garment of one who puts up security for a stranger; hold it in pledge if he does it for a wayward woman.

谁为生人作保,就拿谁的衣服;谁为外女作保,谁就承当。

箴27:14

If a man loudly blesses his neighbor early in the morning, it will be taken as a curse.

清晨起来,大声给朋友祝福的,就算是咒诅他。

箴27:15

A quarrelsome wife is like a constant dripping on a rainy day;

大雨之日,连连滴漏,和争吵的妇人一样;

箴27:16

restraining her is like restraining the wind or grasping oil with the hand.

想拦阻她的,便是拦阻风,也是右手抓油。

箴27:17

As iron sharpens iron, so one man sharpens another.

铁磨铁,磨出刃来;朋友相感(原文作“磨朋友的脸”),也是如此。

箴27:18

He who tends a fig tree will eat its fruit, and he who looks after his master will be honored.

看守无花果树的,必吃树上的果子;敬奉主人的,必得尊荣。

箴27:19

As water reflects a face, so a man’s heart reflects the man.

水中照脸,彼此相符;人与人,心也相对。

箴27:20

Death and Destruction are never satisfied, and neither are the eyes of man.

阴间和灭亡,永不满足,人的眼目,也是如此。

箴27:21

The crucible for silver and the furnace for gold, but man is tested by the praise he receives.

鼎为炼银,炉为炼金,人的称赞也试炼人。

箴27:22

Though you grind a fool in a mortar, grinding him like grain with a pestle, you will not remove his folly from him.

你虽用杵将愚妄人与打碎的麦子一同捣在臼中,他的愚妄还是离不了他。

箴27:23

Be sure you know the condition of your flocks, give careful attention to your herds;

你要详细知道你羊群的景况,留心料理你的牛群;

箴27:24

for riches do not endure forever, and a crown is not secure for all generations.

因为资财不能永有,冠冕岂能存到万代?

箴27:25

When the hay is removed and new growth appears and the grass from the hills is gathered in,

干草割去,嫩草发现,山上的菜蔬也被收敛。

箴27:26

the lambs will provide you with clothing, and the goats with the price of a field.

羊羔之毛是为你作衣服;山羊是为作田地的价值,

箴27:27

You will have plenty of goats’ milk to feed you and your family and to nourish your servant girls.

并有母山羊奶够你吃,也够你的家眷吃,且够养你的婢女。

箴言第28章

箴28:1

The wicked man flees though no one pursues, but the righteous are as bold as a lion.

恶人虽无人追赶也逃跑;义人却胆壮像狮子。

箴28:2

When a country is rebellious, it has many rulers, but a man of understanding and knowledge maintains order.

邦国因有罪过,君王就多更换。因有聪明知识的人,国必长存。

箴28:3

A ruler who oppresses the poor is like a driving rain that leaves no crops.

穷人欺压贫民,好像暴雨冲没粮食。

箴28:4

Those who forsake the law praise the wicked, but those who keep the law resist them.

违弃律法的,夸奖恶人;遵守律法的,却与恶人相争。

箴28:5

Evil men do not understand justice, but those who seek the LORD understand it fully.

坏人不明白公义;惟有寻求耶和华的,无不明白。

箴28:6

Better a poor man whose walk is blameless than a rich man whose ways are perverse.

行为纯正的穷乏人,胜过行事乖僻的富足人。

箴28:7

He who keeps the law is a discerning son, but a companion of gluttons disgraces his father.

谨守律法的,是智慧之子;与贪食人作伴的,却羞辱其父。

箴28:8

He who increases his wealth by exorbitant interest amasses it for another, who will be kind to the poor.

人以厚利加增财物,是给那怜悯穷人者积蓄的。

箴28:9

If anyone turns a deaf ear to the law, even his prayers are detestable.

转耳不听律法的,他的祈祷也为可憎。

箴28:10

He who leads the upright along an evil path will fall into his own trap, but the blameless will receive a good inheritance.

诱惑正直人行恶道的,必掉在自己的坑里,惟有完全人,必承受福分。

箴28:11

A rich man may be wise in his own eyes, but a poor man who has discernment sees through him.

富足人自以为有智慧,但聪明的贫穷人能将他查透。

箴28:12

When the righteous triumph, there is great elation; but when the wicked rise to power, men go into hiding.

义人得志,有大荣耀;恶人兴起,人就躲藏。

箴28:13

He who conceals his sins does not prosper, but whoever confesses and renounces them finds mercy.

遮掩自己罪过的,必不亨通;承认离弃罪过的,必蒙怜恤。

箴28:14

Blessed is the man who always fears the LORD, but he who hardens his heart falls into trouble.

常存敬畏的,便为有福;心存刚硬的,必陷在祸患里。

箴28:15

Like a roaring lion or a charging bear is a wicked man ruling over a helpless people.

暴虐的君王辖制贫民,好像吼叫的狮子、觅食的熊。

箴28:16

A tyrannical ruler lacks judgment, but he who hates ill-gotten gain will enjoy a long life.

无知的君多行暴虐;以贪财为可恨的,必年长日久。

箴28:17

A man tormented by the guilt of murder will be a fugitive till death; let no one support him.

背负流人血之罪的,必往坑里奔跑,谁也不可拦阻他。

箴28:18

He whose walk is blameless is kept safe, but he whose ways are perverse will suddenly fall.

行动正直的,必蒙拯救;行事弯曲的,立时跌倒。

箴28:19

He who works his land will have abundant food, but the one who chases fantasies will have his fill of poverty.

耕种自己田地的,必得饱食;追随虚浮的,足受穷乏。

箴28:20

A faithful man will be richly blessed, but one eager to get rich will not go unpunished.

诚实人必多得福,想要急速发财的,不免受罚。

箴28:21

To show partiality is not good–yet a man will do wrong for a piece of bread.

看人的情面,乃为不好;人因一块饼枉法,也为不好。

箴28:22

A stingy man is eager to get rich and is unaware that poverty awaits him.

人有恶眼想要急速发财,却不知穷乏必临到他身。

箴28:23

He who rebukes a man will in the end gain more favor than he who has a flattering tongue.

责备人的,后来蒙人喜悦,多于那用舌头谄媚人的。

箴28:24

He who robs his father or mother and says, “It’s not wrong”–he is partner to him who destroys.

偷窃父母的,说:“这不是罪”,此人就是与强盗同类。

箴28:25

A greedy man stirs up dissension, but he who trusts in the LORD will prosper.

心中贪婪的,挑起争端;倚靠耶和华的,必得丰裕。

箴28:26

He who trusts in himself is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom is kept safe.

心中自是的,便是愚昧人;凭智慧行事的,必蒙拯救。

箴28:27

He who gives to the poor will lack nothing, but he who closes his eyes to them receives many curses.

周济贫穷的,不致缺乏,佯为不见的,必多受咒诅。

箴28:28

When the wicked rise to power, people go into hiding; but when the wicked perish, the righteous thrive.

恶人兴起,人就躲藏;恶人败亡,义人增多。

箴言第29章

箴29:1

A man who remains stiff-necked after many rebukes will suddenly be destroyed–without remedy.

人屡次受责罚,仍然硬着颈项,他必顷刻败坏,无法可治。

箴29:2

When the righteous thrive, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan.

义人增多,民就喜乐;恶人掌权,民就叹息。

箴29:3

A man who loves wisdom brings joy to his father, but a companion of prostitutes squanders his wealth.

爱慕智慧的,使父亲喜乐;与妓女结交的,却浪费钱财。

箴29:4

By justice a king gives a country stability, but one who is greedy for bribes tears it down.

王借公平,使国坚定;索要贿赂,使国倾败。

箴29:5

Whoever flatters his neighbor is spreading a net for his feet.

谄媚邻舍的,就是设网罗绊他的脚。

箴29:6

An evil man is snared by his own sin, but a righteous one can sing and be glad.

恶人犯罪,自陷网罗,惟独义人,欢呼喜乐。

箴29:7

The righteous care about justice for the poor, but the wicked have no such concern.

义人知道查明穷人的案,恶人没有聪明,就不得而知。

箴29:8

Mockers stir up a city, but wise men turn away anger.

亵慢人煽惑通城;智慧人止息众怒。

箴29:9

If a wise man goes to court with a fool, the fool rages and scoffs, and there is no peace.

智慧人与愚妄人相争,或怒或笑,总不能使他止息。

箴29:10

Bloodthirsty men hate a man of integrity and seek to kill the upright.

好流人血的,恨恶完全人,索取正直人的性命。

箴29:11

A fool gives full vent to his anger, but a wise man keeps himself under control.

愚妄人怒气全发;智慧人忍气含怒。

箴29:12

If a ruler listens to lies, all his officials become wicked.

君王若听谎言,他一切臣仆都是奸恶。

箴29:13

The poor man and the oppressor have this in common: The LORD gives sight to the eyes of both.

贫穷人强暴人在世相遇,他们的眼目,都蒙耶和华光照。

箴29:14

If a king judges the poor with fairness, his throne will always be secure.

君王凭诚实判断穷人,他的国位必永远坚立。

箴29:15

The rod of correction imparts wisdom, but a child left to himself disgraces his mother.

杖打和责备能加增智慧;放纵的儿子使母亲羞愧。

箴29:16

When the wicked thrive, so does sin, but the righteous will see their downfall.

恶人加多,过犯也加多,义人必看见他们跌倒。

箴29:17

Discipline your son, and he will give you peace; he will bring delight to your soul.

管教你的儿子,他就使你得安息,也必使你心里喜乐。

箴29:18

Where there is no revelation, the people cast off restraint; but blessed is he who keeps the law.

没有异象(或作“默示”),民就放肆;惟遵守律法的,便为有福!

箴29:19

A servant cannot be corrected by mere words; though he understands, he will not respond.

只用言语,仆人不肯受管教,他虽然明白,也不留意。

箴29:20

Do you see a man who speaks in haste? There is more hope for a fool than for him.

你见言语急躁的人吗?愚昧人比他更有指望。

箴29:21

If a man pampers his servant from youth, he will bring grief in the end.

人将仆人从小娇养,这仆人终久必成了他的儿子。

箴29:22

An angry man stirs up dissension, and a hot-tempered one commits many sins.

好气的人,挑启争端;暴怒的人,多多犯罪。

箴29:23

A man’s pride brings him low, but a man of lowly spirit gains honor.

人的高傲,必使他卑下;心里谦逊的,必得尊荣。

箴29:24

The accomplice of a thief is his own enemy; he is put under oath and dare not testify.

人与盗贼分赃,是恨恶自己的性命,他听见叫人发誓的声音,却不言语。

箴29:25

Fear of man will prove to be a snare, but whoever trusts in the LORD is kept safe.

惧怕人的,陷入网罗;惟有倚靠耶和华的,必得安稳。

箴29:26

Many seek an audience with a ruler, but it is from the LORD that man gets justice.

求王恩的人多,定人事乃在耶和华。

箴29:27

The righteous detest the dishonest; the wicked detest the upright.

为非作歹的,被义人憎嫌;行事正直的,被恶人憎恶。

箴言第30章

箴30:1

The sayings of Agur son of Jakeh–an oracle: This man declared to Ithiel, to Ithiel and to Ucal:

雅基的儿子亚古珥的言语,就是真言。这人对以铁和乌甲说:

箴30:2

“I am the most ignorant of men; I do not have a man’s understanding.

“我比众人更蠢笨,也没有人的聪明。

箴30:3

I have not learned wisdom, nor have I knowledge of the Holy One.

我没有学好智慧,也不认识至圣者。

箴30:4

Who has gone up to heaven and come down? Who has gathered up the wind in the hollow of his hands? Who has wrapped up the waters in his cloak? Who has established all the ends of the earth? What is his name, and the name of his son? Tell me if you know!

谁升天又降下来?谁聚风在掌握中?谁包水在衣服里?谁立定地的四极?他名叫什么?他儿子名叫什么?你知道吗?

箴30:5

“Every word of God is flawless; he is a shield to those who take refuge in him.

神的言语句句都是炼净的!投靠他的,他便作他们的盾牌。

箴30:6

Do not add to his words, or he will rebuke you and prove you a liar.

他的言语,你不可加添,恐怕他责备你,你就显为说谎言的。

箴30:7

“Two things I ask of you, O LORD; do not refuse me before I die:

我求你两件事,在我未死之先,不要不赐给我:

箴30:8

Keep falsehood and lies far from me; give me neither poverty nor riches, but give me only my daily bread.

求你使虚假和谎言远离我;使我也不贫穷也不富足,赐给我需用的饮食。

箴30:9

Otherwise, I may have too much and disown you and say, ‘Who is the LORD?’ Or I may become poor and steal, and so dishonor the name of my God.

恐怕我饱足不认你,说:‘耶和华是谁呢?’又恐怕我贫穷就偷窃,以致亵渎我 神的名。

箴30:10

“Do not slander a servant to his master, or he will curse you, and you will pay for it.

你不要向主人谗谤仆人,恐怕他咒诅你,你便算为有罪。

箴30:11

“There are those who curse their fathers and do not bless their mothers;

有一宗人(“宗”原文作“代”。下同),咒诅父亲,不给母亲祝福。

箴30:12

those who are pure in their own eyes and yet are not cleansed of their filth;

有一宗人,自以为清洁,却没有洗去自己的污秽。

箴30:13

those whose eyes are ever so haughty, whose glances are so disdainful;

有一宗人,眼目何其高傲,眼皮也是高举。

箴30:14

those whose teeth are swords and whose jaws are set with knives to devour the poor from the earth, the needy from among mankind.

有一宗人,牙如剑,齿如刀,要吞灭地上的困苦人和世间的穷乏人。

箴30:15

“The leech has two daughters. ‘Give! Give!’ they cry. “There are three things that are never satisfied, four that never say, ‘Enough!’:

蚂蟥有两个女儿,常说:‘给呀,给呀!’有三样不知足的,连不说‘够’的共有四样:

箴30:16

the grave, the barren womb, land, which is never satisfied with water, and fire, which never says, ‘Enough!’

就是阴间和石胎,浸水不足的地并火。

箴30:17

“The eye that mocks a father, that scorns obedience to a mother, will be pecked out by the ravens of the valley, will be eaten by the vultures.

戏笑父亲,藐视而不听从母亲的,他的眼睛必为谷中的乌鸦啄出来,为鹰雏所吃。

箴30:18

“There are three things that are too amazing for me, four that I do not understand:

我所测不透的奇妙有三样,连我所不知道的共有四样:

箴30:19

the way of an eagle in the sky, the way of a snake on a rock, the way of a ship on the high seas, and the way of a man with a maiden.

就是鹰在空中飞的道,蛇在磐石上爬的道,船在海中行的道,男与女交合的道。

箴30:20

“This is the way of an adulteress: She eats and wipes her mouth and says, ‘I’ve done nothing wrong.’

淫妇的道,也是这样,她吃了把嘴一擦,就说:‘我没有行恶。’

箴30:21

“Under three things the earth trembles, under four it cannot bear up:

使地震动的有三样,连地担不起的共有四样:

箴30:22

a servant who becomes king, a fool who is full of food,

就是仆人作王,愚顽人吃饱,

箴30:23

an unloved woman who is married, and a maidservant who displaces her mistress.

丑恶的女子出嫁,婢女接续主母。

箴30:24

“Four things on earth are small, yet they are extremely wise:

地上有四样小物,却甚聪明:

箴30:25

Ants are creatures of little strength, yet they store up their food in the summer;

蚂蚁是无力之类,却在夏天预备粮食;

箴30:26

coneys are creatures of little power, yet they make their home in the crags;

沙番是软弱之类,却在磐石中造房;

箴30:27

locusts have no king, yet they advance together in ranks;

蝗虫没有君王,却分队而出;

箴30:28

a lizard can be caught with the hand, yet it is found in kings’ palaces.

守宫用爪抓墙,却住在王宫。

箴30:29

“There are three things that are stately in their stride, four that move with stately bearing:

步行威武的有三样,连行走威武的共有四样:

箴30:30

a lion, mighty among beasts, who retreats before nothing;

就是狮子–乃百兽中最为猛烈、无所躲避的,

箴30:31

a strutting rooster, a he-goat, and a king with his army around him.

猎狗、公山羊和无人能敌的君王。

箴30:32

“If you have played the fool and exalted yourself, or if you have planned evil, clap your hand over your mouth!

你若行事愚顽,自高自傲,或是怀了恶念,就当用手捂口。

箴30:33

For as churning the milk produces butter, and as twisting the nose produces blood, so stirring up anger produces strife.”

摇牛奶必成奶油,扭鼻子必出血,照样,激动怒气必起争端。”

箴言第31章

箴31:1

The sayings of King Lemuel–an oracle his mother taught him:

利慕伊勒王的言语,是他母亲教训他的真言。

箴31:2

“O my son, O son of my womb, O son of my vows,

“我的儿啊,我腹中生的儿啊,我许愿得的儿啊,我当怎样教训你呢?

箴31:3

do not spend your strength on women, your vigor on those who ruin kings.

不要将你的精力给妇女,也不要有败坏君王的行为。

箴31:4

“It is not for kings, O Lemuel–not for kings to drink wine, not for rulers to crave beer,

利慕伊勒啊,君王喝酒,君王喝酒不相宜;王子说,浓酒在那里也不相宜。

箴31:5

lest they drink and forget what the law decrees, and deprive all the oppressed of their rights.

恐怕喝了就忘记律例,颠倒一切困苦人的是非。

箴31:6

Give beer to those who are perishing, wine to those who are in anguish;

可以把浓酒给将亡的人喝,把清酒给苦心的人喝,

箴31:7

let them drink and forget their poverty and remember their misery no more.

让他喝了,就忘记他的贫穷,不再记念他的苦楚。

箴31:8

“Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute.

你当为哑巴(或作“不能自辩的”)开口,为一切孤独的伸冤。

箴31:9

Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.”

你当开口按公义判断,为困苦和穷乏的辨屈。”

箴31:10

A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies.

才德的妇人谁能得着呢?她的价值远胜过珍珠。

箴31:11

Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value.

她丈夫心里倚靠她,必不缺少利益。

箴31:12

She brings him good, not harm, all the days of her life.

她一生使丈夫有益无损。

箴31:13

She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands.

她寻找羊绒和麻,甘心用手做工。

箴31:14

She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar.

她好像商船从远方运粮来,

箴31:15

She gets up while it is still dark; she provides food for her family and portions for her servant girls.

未到黎明她就起来,把食物分给家中的人,将当做的工分派婢女。

箴31:16

She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.

她想得田地就买来,用手所得之利,栽种葡萄园。

箴31:17

She sets about her work vigorously; her arms are strong for her tasks.

她以能力束腰,使膀臂有力。

箴31:18

She sees that her trading is profitable, and her lamp does not go out at night.

她觉得所经营的有利,她的灯终夜不灭。

箴31:19

In her hand she holds the distaff and grasps the spindle with her fingers.

她手拿捻线竿,手把纺线车。

箴31:20

She opens her arms to the poor and extends her hands to the needy.

她张手周济困苦人,伸手帮补穷乏人。

箴31:21

When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet.

她不因下雪为家里的人担心,因为全家都穿着朱红衣服。

箴31:22

She makes coverings for her bed; she is clothed in fine linen and purple.

她为自己制作绣花毯子,她的衣服是细麻和紫色布做的。

箴31:23

Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.

她丈夫在城门口与本地的长老同坐,为众人所认识。

箴31:24

She makes linen garments and sells them, and supplies the merchants with sashes.

她做细麻布衣裳出卖,又将腰带卖与商家。

箴31:25

She is clothed with strength and dignity; she can laugh at the days to come.

能力和威仪是她的衣服。她想到日后的景况就喜笑。

箴31:26

She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue.

她开口就发智慧,她舌上有仁慈的法则。

箴31:27

She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.

她观察家务,并不吃闲饭。

箴31:28

Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her:

她的儿女起来称她有福,她的丈夫也称赞她,

箴31:29

“Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all.”

说:“才德的女子很多,惟独你超过一切!”

箴31:30

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting; but a woman who fears the LORD is to be praised.

艳丽是虚假的,美容是虚浮的,惟敬畏耶和华的妇女必得称赞!

箴31:31

Give her the reward she has earned, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate.

愿她享受操作所得的;愿她的工作,在城门口荣耀她。
